“You [Sarah Palin] enjoy killing animals.  What you did is heart-stoppingly disgusting ... if I were picked to be the one to kill [an animal] in some kind of Lottery-from-Hell, I wouldn't do a little dance of joy while I was slicing the animal apart."  (This is Aaron Sorkin in the Huffington Post reacting to the Caribou hunt on Sarah Palin's Alaska.) 
Sarah Palin ain't the only one who dances on a hunt.  Something flickers, and my head jerks left.  I tense up on my deerstand.  My eyes focus.  These are predator eyes, quick to spot movement.  And they face forward, like the lion, leopard, falcon, and wolf -- the better to stalk and ambush prey.  The eyes on deer, rabbit, and caribou face from the side of their heads -- to detect and evade approaching predators (like Sarah Palin).
My pulse rate jumps, my senses quicken, and I'm jolted back into my primal role.  The branch jerks again...again.  Gotta be something big, I think.  My pulse is really hammering now.  Is that a flicking ear?...A black nose?...The sun glints off something...yes!-- An antler!  […]
But how to explain this thrill to non-hunters?  (Forget reasoning with an anti-hunter.)  I'll take the easy route and toss the ball back in their court.  "How can you not hunt?" I ask.  Hunting's not a hobby.  It's not a pastime -- it's an instinct.  "Man's being consisted first of being a hunter," José Ortega y Gasset tells us.
"Man evolved as a hunter," says Chicago University anthropologist W.S. Laughlin.  "He spent over 99 per cent of his species' history as a hunter, and he spread over the entire habitable globe as a hunter." […]

'Dang,' I thought.  'Divorce Todd?  Have you seen Todd?"
Apparently that gleam is not confined to the male hunters' eyes.

George W Bush on Gov Sarah Palin: I Never Said That, Never Would Have Said That

Rush: Don't worry kid, I have your back!
RUSH:  I want to give you a chance to comment on something.  There are stories going around that do not quote you -- that quote "associates" or "friends" -- saying that you are telling them that Sarah Palin was a bad choice by Senator McCain to be vice president --
PRESIDENT BUSH: Yeah.
RUSH:  -- and that she --
PRESIDENT BUSH: I have never said that, of course, nor have I read about it.  You know, I'm not gonna comment on anybody who might be running for president.  But that's what happens in today's world, the blogosphere. You know, people get to hide behind some codename or something. They toss out a gossip or rumor and it floats around the Internet.  I never said that, never would have said that.
RUSH:  What do you want people to know about you and your presidency that they don't know?  What's in this book that you think will surprise people?
PRESIDENT BUSH: Oh, gosh. I think it will surprise people that I deliberated long and hard about a lot of issues, that I weighed different people's opinions, that I was very deliberate when it came time to commit our troops.  I tried to give diplomacy a chance.  I think people will learn that I've got a decent sense of humor, and I hope they already know that I've got a set of values I wouldn't trade out for politics; and I hope they know that I was honored to serve our country, that I really love America, and to be the president of a country you love is a huge honor.
RUSH:  Privatizing Social Security. I meant to ask this when you mentioned it earlier. This is one of your hallmarks of your second term. You tried to get this done. It's always been said to be "the third rail." Even today with your book coming out the Democrats are attacking you on this.  You didn't want to reform the whole thing. You just wanted to get people a stake in it.
PRESIDENT BUSH: Yeah, I... That's a codeword, "privatization."  That's obviously a poll-tested word.  And so all I said was younger workers ought to have a chance to set aside some of their money in an account that earns a better rate of return than their money in the Social Security trust fund.  Why I thought that's important is, one, it's voluntary. Secondly, it will give a waitress in a restaurant a chance to own an asset, an asset that he or she could pass on -- or she, in this case, can pass on -- to her family.  There are a lot of people in our society who have no assets, and I felt like this would be a substantive reform that would be positive.  And of course, you know, by having a defined contribution plan as opposed to a defined benefit plan, you're taking power away from people in Washington, and that created a lot of angst. One of these days people will reform Social Security, and I was pleased to lay out a solution.
RUSH:  Former President Bush, it's great to have you on the program. It always is.  Good luck with the book.  You have a busy couple of months ahead of you with this, taking you through the Christmas season with it, and I thank you for your time here.  It's always a pleasure to have you with us.
PRESIDENT BUSH: Rush, thank you very much, sir.  I appreciate your time.
RUSH:  You bet.  Former President Bush is on the phone with us from Texas, and he does say that countless people miss him.  Which we knew would be the case.  Thanks again for your time, sir.

Hell Freezes Over: Huffington Post Loves Sarah Palin’s Going Rogue

Stephen H. Dinan, of the Huffington Post, actually wrote a very positive review of Sarah Palin’s Going Rogue.  As a liberal he came to the realization that the liberal histaria and hate directed at Sarah Palin was manufactured and she really is something special.  As part of the 12 steps for recovery from liberalism all liberals should be required to read Mark Levin’s Liberty and Tyranny and Going Rogue. I posted part of the review of Dissolving the Palin Prejudice:

Reading Going Rogue was something of a test for myself - could I find the place of appreciation, respect, and even love for Sarah Palin?

What I found is that it wasn't really that hard, actually, simply by taking the time to meet her on her own turf rather than through sounds bites, spin, and polarized media battles. Reading someone's personal memoir is an intimate journey into their inner sanctum, and I developed a real appreciation for Sarah in reading the book. Aspects of her that seemed coarse, simplistic, or combative during the campaign were revealed to be a product of frontier values and growing up in a culture that is faced with subzero temperatures and constant tests of survival.

Perhaps the most moving aspect of the book is the way in which she never waivers in her family commitments throughout the political journey. She passes up an opportunity to contest a Senate seat in order to manage her son's hockey team. She breast feeds in front of a taken-aback lawmaker. Team Palin is a part of every campaign and a constant presence in her official roles. Her family is at the center of her life in a way that feels whole and balanced, which is both impressive and commendable as we all seek to balance competing demands on our time.

My developing appreciation of her formative years in the book led to a different view of the pressure cooker of national, presidential politics - I felt far more compassion for the ugly way in which she was attacked by the press, dismissed by the opposition, and muzzled by patronizing campaign bosses. She faced strong prejudices from people like myself who were scared that her more black-or-white, provincial-seeming perspective would someday be in the Oval Office. We were also worried by her folksy appeal and ability to attack Obama aggressively while appearing quite charming. The result of that reaction was a barrage of distorted stories, inflated fears, and downright misrepresentations, some of which were quite damaging to her family. After reading in her own words what she went through, I felt more compassion for her and dismay about the meat grinder that we've created for political leaders - an occupation for which we truly need our best and brightest.

Reading Going Rogue makes me understand that Sarah is not the ruthlessly ambitious and cutthroat caricature we feared; she is a woman who has befriended Democrats personally and professionally, shown real leadership in fighting corruption, and taken a more nuanced position on several issues in which she seemed far more polarizing. She seems quite sincere in her desire to serve in whatever way the universe calls for that service.

All that said, I still bristled when she launches in the final part of the book into a diatribe about what our country needs, which is strongly colored with right-wing platitudes and a self-righteous air as well as the tendency to portray liberals as the enemy rather than fellow allies in evolving our country. I would love to see more thoughtful reflections on positions and values, a deeper understanding of history, and less of the combative edge, all of which would make her a more unifying leader (and likely lead to fewer arrows back at her and her family).

Most of all, I come way from the book seeing Sarah as a woman who loves her family deeply, seeks to live a life of integrity, and wants America to be strong, successful and vibrant. While I may disagree with some of her policies and perspectives, I can better respect both her sincere patriotic intent as well as her willingness to take on hard fights in the service of democracy, in addition to her championing of the everyday people who often feel marginalized in our political process. I still would not vote for her for President, but I do respect her more as a person and as a leader of an important base of Americans.

I come away from reading Going Rogue feeling that it would be a useful act of citizenship for all those who feel prejudice towards her to read her book and meet her on her own turf in order to heal the lingering prejudices. I feel more balanced for having done so. I would also urge conservatives who hate or fear Obama to read his autobiography to better understand the man behind the political leader and thus heal their own biases.

Sarah Palin Keynote Speaker At International Bowl Expo: Confusing Liberals

Arlington, TX –- The Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA), the bowling industry's leading trade association, announced today that the bowling industry rolled a strike, securing Sarah Palin as the keynote speaker at this summer's International Bowl Expo 2010.

"Sarah Palin is a great friend to the bowling industry and we're so proud and honored to welcome her as our keynote speaker at International Bowl Expo 2010," said Steven Johnson, executive director of the BPAA.  "Regardless of your political affiliation, Ms. Palin is a force in American politics and culture.  Her presence underscores the impact and importance of bowling, one of our country's leading national pastimes and a growing $10 billion industry."

The International Bowl Expo 2010 is to be held from June 27 to July 1 at the Las Vegas Hilton and Las Vegas Convention Center.  Ms. Palin's keynote speech is to take place during the general session on the morning of June 30 at the Las Vegas Hilton.

Of all the things that have ever been said about famed Vice Presidential nominee and occasional Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, none have been as trenchant or as poignant as this: "Her presence underscores the impact and importance of bowling." HER VERY PRESENCE DOES THESE THINGS.

That's from the statement proffered by the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America, who "announced today that the bowling industry rolled a strike [ed. note: WITTICISM!], securing Sarah Palin as the keynote speaker at this summer's International Bowl Expo 2010."

UHM...BREAKING, I THINK(?!):

"Sarah Palin is a great friend to the bowling industry and we're so proud and honored to welcome her as our keynote speaker at International Bowl Expo 2010," said Steven Johnson, executive director of the BPAA.
Of course, the BPAA may end up being disappointed when the obvious benefit of having Palin as a speaker -- hyper-intensive, nonstop media coverage of the event -- comes to naught when Palin refuses the "gotcha" media entry to the event.

Obama Scared Of Sarah Palin? Tonight's speech includes The Governor!

OUR White House cannot resist but to focus on Governor Palin and make her the center of opposition. Sounds like communist methodology. You have to give credit to The Governor when she speaks we all listen. Although I will not be listening to the speech tonight

On Gov. Palin's Attacks


Every non-partisan organization that has looked at her claims say they are false. And the ideas in her op-ed are both scary and risky. Eliminating Medicare and giving our seniors vouchers instead is a bad idea that we shouldn't adopt.


The fact that Obama needs to respond tells me Sarah Palin WINS again!

Popular Palin: 120+ Political Campaign & 950+ Speaking Engagement Invitations

Mike Allen, at the Politico, reported that Governor Palin has received 1,070 invitation since her resignation as the governor of Alaska. Pretty impressive and, of course, the MSM will naturally do its best to ignore this news.


This is an important piece of news because the MSM so enjoys attacking Gov Palin at every opportunity. For Example, it was reported that Gov Palin was invited to and will attend the GOP Senate Fundraiser, The Simi Valley Republican Women’s Club and The Change Point Church in Anchorage. Each of these organizations were so enthusiastic about having Gov Palin attend their event they prematurely jump-the-gun and announced that she has been invited and has confirmed. Texas For Sarah Palin also reported that some organizations knowingly lie about inviting Gov Palin simply for self promotion. The latest news about Gov Palin traveling to Asia in September is only news until Gov Palin publicly confirms this event. The MSM naturally omits these facts and rushes to attack Gov with an amazing amount of exuberance. Gov Palin seems to be a victim of her own success and the MSM is, again, an embarrassment.


The MSM, including Gov Palin inspired sites such as HuffingtonPost.com and Dailykos.com (each dedicate 25% of there websites to Gov Palin), love inventing negative news about Palin when ever possible. Any attack on Gov Palin is really a sad attempt to protect the disaster and embarrassment that Obama is. So if you feel the need to respond to a disrespectful comment or an attack on Gov Palin simply reply with any number of facts demonstrating Obama is a disaster.


Gov Palin has also signed with the speakers’ bureau Washington Speakers Bureau, which also represents President George and The First Lady, Bob Woodward, Katie Couric, Alan Greenspan, Colin Powell and Rudy Giuliani. Gov Palin is also close to finishing her book, which is due out this spring from HarperCollins.
