Sarah Palin: Great Wisconsin Event (And Setting the Record Straight, Again)

Sunday, November 08, 2009 0 Responses
Great event last night in Wisconsin! It was an honor to meet great Americans who are working so hard to remind us of life's sanctity and value. I commend this fine state for its efforts to make our nation a more welcoming place for all children.

Let me set the record straight on the media's follow-up reports of the great event: Despite what CNN reported, decisions about not allowing cameras at the event were the prerogative of the sponsors of the event, and I, of course, respected their decision.

I am about to set out on my book tour, where media will no doubt join us at many spots. In the meantime, I ask our friends in the media once again: please quit making things up.

PS: Attached is a photo from the event. You can read more about the excellent work the Wisconsin Right to Life does here.

Sarah Palin Mocks Obama: I feel Real Change Is Just Up Ahead

Saturday, November 07, 2009 1 Response
Bill Glauber of the Journal Sentinel gave us some highlights of Governor Palin’s speech in West Allis Wisconsin: Palin rallies state’s abortion opponents
West Allis, WI — Less than two weeks before the release of her memoir "Going Rogue," former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was on message during a Friday night speech to anti-abortion activists at State Fair Park.

"Let's simplify, we're pro children," Palin told thousands of people who attended a $30-a-ticket fund-raiser for the Wisconsin Right to Life Education Fund.

In a personal and passionate speech, Palin lauded the state's anti-abortion movement for legislative advances achieved over time."We were told to sit down and shut up," Palin said. "Wisconsin, you went rogue."

[...]

"I was scared," Palin said, adding that she asked her husband, Todd, "Why us?" He responded, "Why not?""My family life is much richer thanks to this beautiful baby boy Trig," Palin said. "He is awesome."

The speech marked Palin's re-emergence on the national scene. The event was emceed by WTMJ-AM radio personality Charlie Sykes. The Journal Sentinel purchased a ticket to cover Palin's speech. Security was tight at the Wisconsin Exposition Center. Spectators were told beforehand that prohibited items included cell phones, recording devices, video and still cameras, as well as strollers and car seats. A line stretched across the length of the facility and out to a parking lot as spectators waited patiently to pass through security.

Once they got inside, spectators didn't have to wait long for what they came for - Palin's speech. The address began with Palin asking for a moment of silence to remember those killed in Thursday's shooting rampage at Fort Hood in Texas.

[...]

Palin remains a potent force in national politics even after her abrupt resignation as Alaska's governor. Her future political plans - including the possibility of a presidential run in 2012 - remain unclear. She has kept in touch with tens of thousands of her admirers through online social networking tools.

She used President Barack Obama's mantra of change to make her political points. "Let's talk about change we can believe in," Palin said. "Friends, a majority of Americans identify as pro life, and thank God for that."  She called health care reform a "government takeover" and called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to at least allow a congressional vote to prohibit federally sponsored health insurance plans to pay for abortions.

"I feel real change is just up ahead," she said. "Wisconsin, we need to ramp it up."She brought the crowd to its feet with a simple closing line: "Don't let anyone ever tell you to sit down and shut up."

In some ways, the Wisconsin event was a dress rehearsal for Palin's book tour, which kicks off with a Nov. 16 appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show. The book has been a bestseller for more than a month on Amazon, the online bookseller.

Palin wrote Tuesday on her Facebook page that she is "also hoping to have the opportunity to talk with Bill O'Reilly, Barbara Walters, Sean Hannity, Greta Van Susteren, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, Dennis Miller, Tammy Bruce, and others, including local Alaska personalities Bob & Mark and Eddie Burke. (Variety is the spice of life!)"
"Can't wait to hit the road," she added. "Can't wait to see you!"

New Details Revealed About Sarah Palin & 08 Campaign

Friday, November 06, 2009 0 Responses

Louise Radnofsky from The Wall Street Journal was nice enough to provide several highlights of the new book: Sarah From Alaska.  I posted a few of them:

— Getting the news from Fox: Sarah Palin learned from Fox News that she and John McCain wouldn’t win last year’s presidential election. When she heard anchor Brit Hume announce that Barack Obama had won Ohio, “Palin swallowed a mouthful of air. ‘Oh, well, that’s it,’ she said.”

— No concession on the concession: Palin wanted to give a concession speech, but that was nixed by McCain and his aides. It had been written by former Bush speechwriter Matthew Scully, and would have had her say, “when a black citizen prepares to fill the office of Washington and Lincoln, that is a shining moment in our history that can be lost on no one.” And Palin would have offered her own lavish praise for Obama and his “beautiful family,” McCain and the “honor of a lifetime” that he had given her, and a shout-out to a boy with Down syndrome who she had met on the campaign trail. McCain and his staff were adamantly opposed, though the authors offer no real explanation beyond the general friction between the McCain and Palin camps by the end of the campaign.

— The awkward goodbye with McCain: McCain and Palin parted ways that night after she saw him getting into a Chevy Suburban outside the Arizona hotel where the campaign had gathered on election night. The conversation went like this: “‘John? Is that you?’ Palin asked. Cindy [McCain] was already in the car, and the senator had just given a final hug to his press secretary and personal aide, Brooke Buchanan. He spun around. ‘Oh, hey. How are you, Sarah?’ ‘Are you leaving?’ ‘Yup, we’re out of here.’ Palin paused. ‘Okay, well, good night.’ ‘Yes, good night. We’re headed back to the house.’ The now former running mates exchanged final pat-on-the-back hugs and a muffled thank you or two.”

– The really awkward part: After the McCains had left, Palin wanted to take pictures with her family on the hotel ballroom stage, though a lot of TV crews were still filming. McCain staffers got wind of it and freaked out, thinking Palin was going to give her concession speech after all. After a round of frantic telephone calls, instructions filtered down from McCain campaign manager Steve Schmidt to turn the lights down. Palin stayed posing on the stage anyway, prompting senior McCain staffer Carla Eudy to tell Palin aide Jason Recher: “You never had control of her. Get control of her! Get her ass off stage!” Recher’s response? “The campaign ended tonight, and so did you.”

The Team Sarah November 2009 Newsletter Is Out!

Thursday, November 05, 2009 0 Responses
The 2009 November Team Sarah newsletter is out.  I posted the Letter from the Editor, Jane B:
When we think of Thanksgiving Day, along with memories of turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie, we evoke visions of the Pilgrims. The original Pilgrims came to this country seeking religious freedom and freedom to live their lives as they chose. Today's Pilgrims, appearing at Town Halls and Tea Parties, are much like our ancestors; we too want to be free from government intrusion into all aspects of our lives. We want to live our lives as we choose. The theme for this issue of the Team Sarah Conservative Voice (TSCV) is Today's Pilgrims, Citizens Seeking Liberty, a testimonial to the awakening of the American public in these troubled times.

Along with thousands and thousands of Today's Pilgrims, many Team Sarah members attended the biggest rally ever held in our country – the 9.12 Taxpayer March on D.C. This issue features a Special Report with images and thoughts on the March from Team Sarah members who attended the rally. If you weren't able to get to Washington this September, I think after reading about Team Sarah member's recollections of the march, you may feel like you were there also.

In this issue of TSCV, we also have two contrasting featured articles: one is from the sage perspective of how we got to this point in American history; the other is from a contemporary viewpoint on how we can be silent no longer. Along with these thought-provoking articles, our writers have penned some very stimulating columns on topics such as conservatism, religion, and of course, our favorite subject of all, Sarah Palin.

Many writers, editors, and designers contributed to this issue; thank you all! After seeing how Team Sarah members are involved in restoring America to its founding principles, perhaps you too will be inspired to join Today's Pilgrims and get involved in the struggle to take back our country. You can attend a rally or meet with your elected representatives and let them know you want to be free – you can speak out just like our ancestors, the original Pilgrims, did way back when.

Sarah Palin: Road Trip! Book Tour Announcement

Tuesday, November 03, 2009 6 Responses
I am very, very excited about the upcoming road trip for my book. It will be an honor to meet as many of you as possible!
“Going Rogue” publisher HarperCollins is working hard to schedule book signings across the nation, and we’ll be announcing the locations in the next day or two. I’ve decided to travel to cities outside of the typical book tour venues, and I hope to cover as much of the country as I can.

We’re in the process of arranging interviews with local and national media. An interview with Oprah Winfrey is already scheduled, and I’m also hoping to have the opportunity to talk with Bill O’Reilly, Barbara Walters, Sean Hannity, Greta Van Susteren, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, Dennis Miller, Tammy Bruce, and others, including local Alaska personalities Bob & Mark and Eddie Burke. (Variety is the spice of life!)

Can’t wait to hit the road. Can’t wait to see you!

Sarah Palin And Newt Gingrich: The Visionary And The Hack

Monday, November 02, 2009 2 Responses
Our good friends at American Thinker wrote a very insightful piece comparing Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich: Sarah Palin and Newt Ginrich: The Visionary and the Hack
Two weeks after Sarah Palin's unique exit from public office, Newt Gingrich offered up some unsolicited counsel for the former governor in an interview with POLITICO. Apparently, Newt was certain that Palin's reputation needed serious burnishing, and he was all too ready to provide it by offering substantial details on the range and style of speeches that would be most appropriate for Palin to deliver to various audiences in order to sustain a public revival.  Exactly why he felt she needed his help remains a bit of a mystery, except that Gingrich, like Karl Rove, seems absolutely certain that the world is always on edge awaiting his next tactical stroke of genius.

[...]

Scozzafava supports the same extreme political positions (card-check, Obama stimulus) as any adolescent left-wing blogger. She maintains deep alliances with the most radical and odious groups (Acorn, Working Family Party) associated with the Democratic Party. By standing with her, Newt Gingrich has earned that dreaded label he once affixed to Nancy Pelosi. Newt has become a partisan and trivial politician. He has become a common hack.

In contrast, Sarah Palin just compiles conservative esteem. When she railed against the compromised Republican machine in its support of Scozzafava, it felt like a stiff, clean, purifying breeze. In her October 24th Facebook Note announcing her support for Hoffman, Palin argued with deep philosophical references to conservative ideals. Her support and conviction were not products of a focus group.  The note moved many a radio talk show host who read it aloud, from Mark Levin to Tammy Bruce. It was the reasoned stance of a visionary.

Palin evoked Ronald Reagan, mentioned the importance of establishing sharp contrasts with opponents, and stressed the primacy of principle over party. Palin continues to be the antithesis of the trivial politician.  She has that unique ability to convey the highest sense of personal honor without ever projecting any of the usual political pomposity. Perhaps the highest compliment we can pay Palin is that she is always interesting and always surprising.

[...]

But she has chosen Facebook, not YouTube, as her preferred mode of communication, at least for now. And over and over again, she has proven highly effective and influential, whether discussing health care, energy, China policy, defense, or congressional elections.

It's an effectiveness gained through focus, a focus that we can only hope other politicians begin to emulate. Free markets, individual liberty, small government, strong national defense, and low taxes are the constant themes she invokes. Along with those values, she makes constant mention of the two political giants of the 20th century who embodied them, championed them, and communicated them tirelessly: Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher.

While pundit after pundit argues that we should throw Reagan over the side in pursuit of Obama-lite, Palin is bringing us back to the principled, universal roots that Reagan shared with the Founders. While many columnists anguish over immoderate candidates, Palin warns against "blurring the lines" and writes a Facebook birthday tribute to Margaret Thatcher.

A recent Gallup poll shows that in America, conservatives outnumber liberals by two to one. We know from history that conservatives can win landslide elections. But conservatives need to be confident to be resurgent. None of us knows what Sarah Palin has in mind for 2012 and beyond. But if she is the force that helped us regain the confidence of our convictions, then she will have given us a gift beyond repayment.

Sarah Palin: NJ Gov Candidate Playing Loose With Facts

Sunday, November 01, 2009 1 Response
Despite what candidate Chris Daggett is claiming, I have never contacted him or his campaign. I have never asked him to drop out of the NJ Governor’s race. Now, if a politician is going to play loose with facts like this, the electorate needs to know it.

So, to the good people of
New Jersey, please know that Daggett’s claims are false. I’ve never even suggested he should drop out of the race. But, come to think of it…

Death Panels & Abortion in Pelosi’s $1.055 Trillion Health Care Monstrosity

Friday, October 30, 2009 1 Response
Washington, DC -- It's alive.  The Medicare end-of-life planning provision that Governor Sarah Palin said was tantamount to "death panels" for seniors is staying in the latest Democratic health care bill unveiled Thursday.  Recently, the DNC went on the offensive not only claiming The Governor is lying but communicated to it’s supporters to attack Sarah Palin on Facebook.  The DNC executive director Jen O'Malley Dillon communicated via e-mail insisting private citizen Sarah Palin has been lying and should he harassed.

The provision allows Medicare to pay for voluntary counseling to help beneficiaries deal with the complex and painful decisions families face when a loved one is approaching death.

For years, federal laws and policies have encouraged Americans to think ahead about end-of-life decisions, and make their wishes known in advance through living wills and similar legal documents. But when House Democrats proposed this summer to pay doctors for end-of-life counseling, it touched off a wave of suspicion and anger. Prominent Republicans singled it out as a glaring example of government overreach.

It has also been reported, by the Congressional Budget Office, that Pelosi’s latest bill will not be budget neutral but rather add $1,055,000,000,000 Trillion to the deficit. And at Pelosi’s insistence, a provision for government funded abortions has been included.

Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, at the time a lead negotiator on health care legislation, told constituents at a town hall meeting they had good reason to question the proposal.

"I don't have any problem with things like living wills, but they ought to be done within the family," he said. "We should not have a government program that determines you're going to pull the plug on grandma."

Thursday, the sponsor of the provision said the barrage of criticism may have actually helped.

"There is nothing more basic than giving someone the option of speaking with their doctor about how they want to be treated in the case of an emergency," said Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore. "I think the outrageous and vindictive attacks may have backfired to help raise awareness about this problem, which is why it's been kept in the bill."
The legislation would allow Medicare to pay for a counseling session with a doctor or clinical professional once every five years. The bill calls for such sessions to be "completely" voluntary, and prohibits the encouragement or promotion of suicide or assisted suicide.
The counseling provision is supported by doctors' groups and AARP, the seniors' lobby. It was not included in health care bills passed by two Senate committees.

Gov Perry Responds To Cheney: "I think I'd stick with Sarah."

Thursday, October 29, 2009 1 Response
Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) is brushing off former Vice President Dick Cheney's endorsement of Perry's primary challenger, U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison -- saying he'd rather have his current support from Sarah Palin.
Perry touted an upcoming endorsement from Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, as evidence of Republican support. Perry was then asked if he would rather have Cheney or Palin, who endorsed him back in February.
Perry's response: "I think I'd stick with Sarah."  Not only is he a very good governor but he knows the strength of a Sarah Palin endorsement.

Sarah Palin: East Coast Races Impact All Americans

Tuesday, October 27, 2009 1 Response
As I stand here in a high school gymnasium watching freshmen girls' basketball games, I'm struck by the sight of America's future right in front of me - these tenacious young women full of energy and intensity - I want them to realize every opportunity this great, free nation can provide.

There are big political races on the East Coast that are coming down to the wire - the results of which will impact policies and political actions that touch all of us in every state. Like other independent Americans, you know I don’t always see eye-to-eye with Republican political committees, so when I tell you that the Republican Governors Association has my complete support and confidence in its campaign efforts back East, know that I really mean it. The RGA is helping lead the conservative comeback, BEGINNING THIS YEAR, and its involvement in the East Coast races is significant. I hope you'll support these efforts, which are vital to the cause for America's freedom and prosperity: http://www.rga.org/now <http://www.rga.org/initiatives/comeback-fund/>.

Let's consider the governor's race in New Jersey. The state has the highest tax burden in the country and the incumbent democrat governor has only added to the economic burden. He eliminated property tax rebates for middle class homeowners while the sales tax increased. Altogether, taxes on the people in the region have increased by billions of dollars. It’s no surprise that New Jersey has the highest unemployment rate in the region! Thankfully, there is an alternative. Residents there will be better off under an administration that understands the benefits that result when workers are allowed to keep more of what they earn. Watch New Jersey's economy come alive under new leadership that will put government back on the side of the people! Chris Christie promises this new leadership.

Fortunately, New Jersey's democrat governor is being held accountable with the RGA spending $7 million in the New York and Philadelphia media markets telling the truth about a liberal administrative record while highlighting New Jersey's tax-hiking ways, and reminding voters there is an alternative! The NY and Philly markets are the most expensive in the nation though, so the RGA is requesting help to stay on the air. Visit http://www.rga.org/now <http://www.rga.org/initiatives/comeback-fund/>.

Then in Virginia - there is a clear difference between Republican Bob McDonnell and his liberal opponent. Republican Bob McDonnell is fighting for cheaper American energy and lower taxes, while his opponent wants to raise taxes, and, amazingly, even bragged about having more earmarks than any other state legislator. Bob McDonnell promises to fight for Virginia's hard working families, and he opposes some heavy-handed union leadership efforts that could ultimately hurt employers and employees. The RGA has aired $6 million of TV ads exposing the liberal candidate’s record. I encourage you to help fight for our neighbors in the East by visiting: http://www.rga.org/now <http://www.rga.org/initiatives/comeback-fund/>.

Americans who believe in smaller government and free enterprise have a chance to show Washington that people all across the U.S. don’t want an ever-increasing national debt, more dependency on foreign energy sources and more wasteful government spending. If, like me, this is what you want to show Washington, then I hope you'll support Chris Christie and Bob McDonnell, and the RGA, as great efforts are put forth in these East Coast races.

The young student athletes I'm watching right now are counting on us to do the right thing - to fight for what is right for America today, and into their future. Electing candidates with common sense and respect for freedom is one way we can fight for what is right.

Fox Poll: Governor Sarah Palin Dominates Another 2012 Poll

Monday, October 26, 2009 2 Responses
Fox News posted yet another 2012 poll and as usual Governor Palin more then tripled the votes cast of the  number 2 candidate.  This poll had 3,357 votes cast with Sarah Palin at 49%, Mitt Romney 16%, Mike Huckabee 15%, Newt Gingrich 5% and Tim Pawlenty 5%.

As I monitored this poll I observed Romney and Huckabee supporters contacted first (Facebook, MySpace, Freerepublic, PAC) too vote & spread the word but Sarah Palin still stayed way ahead.  Soon after the world spread and Palin, Pawlenty & Newt supporters caught on and all the candidate’s supporters were voting & spreading the word.

The enthusiasm with Governor Palin’s supporters has little comparison and is some instances she is winning over the Obama youth population.  The primary reason is in this Obama economy those low on the totem poll, many young part-timers and newly hired, get fired first.  Those 18 to 30 have realized Obama is not only a disaster but a hardcore communist, racist and very very ashamed of our United States.  As they watch in horror Obama is handing over our sovereignty to the U.N. and he gets closer to his ultimate goal of UN Secretary General the young have realized Obama is a self-righteous ass and only Governor Palin has put him in his place.  Governor Palin has again and again demonstrated she is the only candidate with any balls and can easily put Obama on the defense and even confuse the moron.

As someone in the 18 to 30 group I have seen many young people now view Obama has a sad joke they wish would go away.  I have also enjoyed seeing the Obama Joker Socialism signs pop up all over South Florida, from West Palm Beach to Key West, most likely posted by the 18 to 30 population.  Another point I find interesting is some individuals claim Governor Palin is either to divisive or to damaged. What these small minded individuals do not realize is they are simply allowing the left (this is why they attack Gov Palin) to shape their opinion.   As we get closer to 2012 and Governor Palin’s support grows the left will get more desperate, Obama will continue to lose support and she will be the only clear choice to bring down the “Tele-prompter of the 57 United States”.  Of the five states with low unemployment, low taxes, a large budget surplus 2 governors and states come to mind.  Alaska and Texas have Governor’s that run/ran the state like an efficient, customer oriented and profit seeking business so I say Palin / Perry 2012!!

Federal Judge Ruling: “Palin for President 2012” Billboard Must Be Allowed

Friday, October 23, 2009 0 Responses
A ruling in Nevada has national implications and has paved the way for billboards "Palin for President 2012" to be erected along Highway 101 in San Carlos, California.

A federal judge has ordered the city to stop enforcing part of its sign ordinance, in response to a lawsuit that the law violates free speech rights.  The lawsuit was filed by Nevada resident Jeffrey Herson, who applied to erect a large sign on Highway 101 with the “Sarah Palin for President 2012” and a "No on Measure C, November 4, 2012" message on the other side.

Herson's suit alleges that in denying his application Sept. 4, the city essentially offered greater protection to commercial speech than political speech in violation of the First and 14th amendments to the U.S. Constitution.

The sign ordinance restricts the size of political signs to 32 square feet or smaller unless the city's architectural review committee approves a larger size. Herson proposed building a pole sign with a face 14 feet high and 48 feet across.  The ordinance also says political signs cannot be erected sooner than 60 days before an election and must be taken down seven days after the election.

The lawsuit, which also lists California-based East Bay Outdoor Inc. as a plaintiff, points out that other types of signs, including those indicating the location or direction of a place and "community activity signs," do not have size or time limitations.  "San Carlos treats political speech differently than other speech," said Alan Herson, the plaintiff's father and the attorney representing him in the case. "It has it backwards. Political speech is the most protected speech under the First Amendment."

In a temporary restraining order issued Monday, U.S. District Court Judge Marilyn Hall Patel said the lawsuit is likely to succeed on the claim that the city's ordinance "singles out political speech for special treatment and appears to place greater burdens on it than on commercial speech and non-political noncommercial speech."  Patel also said the city appears to grant government officials "unfettered discretion to determine who may or may not speak by failing to impose sufficient objective standards and by allowing for an unlimited time for the city's review."

The judge ordered the city to stop enforcing restrictions on the size or timing of political signs and to accept Jeffrey Herson's application.  He submitted a second application this week, and the city is reviewing it, said David Rosenbaum, an attorney for the city.

The Huffington Joke: Most Dangerous Climate Change Deniers (Saviors): Glenn Beck & Sarah Palin

Friday, October 23, 2009 0 Responses
A shout out to and a big thanks to Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Steve Doocy, Michael Steele and the rest of those that made The Huffington Joke’s list.  Without their hard work and persistence we would not only be praying to the “global warming” gods but have a 30% increase in all energy cost and most likely have 30% unemployment or higher (with 17% today this is not unrealistic).  I also finding interesting that The Huffington Joke dedicates more of their site to Governor Palin than Obama  or any other individual.  They must love her or fear her?

“Global warming” is the biggest scam ever perpetrated on the American people and the world.  Thank God it is at least kept at bay and losing a little steam but it is far from defeated.  What is most comical is this season the NE United Sates and other parts of the world are seeing record cold weather but the crazy environmentalist are not deterred at all and have simple change their slogan to “climate change.”  The new religion (believe via blind faith and never question) of “climate change” could not be more anti-American and, of course, very very anti-Capitalism.

A recent poll shows the American people are waking up and the snake-oil sales man & millionaire (from global warming) Al Gore is being viewed more and more as what he is a con-artist.

Just 57% think there is solid evidence the world is getting warmer, down 20 points in just three years, a new poll says. And the share of people who believe pollution caused by humans is causing temperatures to rise has also taken a dip, even as the U.S. and world forums gear up for possible action against climate change.

In a poll of 1,500 adults by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, released Thursday, the number of people saying there is strong scientific evidence that the Earth has gotten warmer over the past few decades is down from 71% in April of last year and from 77% when Pew started asking the question in 2006. The number of people who see the situation as a serious problem also has declined.

The steepest drop has occurred during the past year, as Congress and the Obama administration have taken steps to control heat-trapping emissions for the first time and international negotiations for a new treaty to slow global warming have been under way. At the same time, there has been mounting scientific evidence of climate change — from melting ice caps to the world's oceans hitting the highest monthly recorded temperatures this summer.
