Sarah Palin’s US-Canada Pipeline Gets Environmental Impact Green Light

Thursday, December 31, 2009 0 Responses
Sarah Palin’s pet project got a huge boost today. An independent group, Environment Canada gave the green light for the  US-Canada pipeline.

Environment Canada studied the environmental and social impact of the 2,760-kilometre pipeline (1,700 in Canada & 1,060 in Alaska) and determined that the project "would provide the foundation for a sustainable northern future. The challenge to all will be to build on that foundation."

The report provides 176 recommendations to ensure that the pipeline is developed responsibly, ranging from pipeline design strategies to waste management schemes to wildlife preservation.

The positive endorsement is a crucial step towards the approval of the project, which can only come from the National Energy Board. Federal Environment Minister Jim Prentice has also been waiting to see the report before determining how the Federal government will support the project.   With a positive report on the environmental impact quick passage by National Energy Board is much more likely.

The biggest hurdle facing the project has been the funding and that was finalized back in June.  Governor Sarah Palin meet with Exxon and Trans-Canada to finalize the massive deal on June, 12 2009.

In a June interview with Good Morning America Sarah Palin said: "It's gonna happen and we're very excited about this development,"

Exxon's tilt toward TransCanada suggests the oil giant believes that's not true. Exxon is America's largest company, with extraction rights to a third of all Alaska's gas reserves. It can use them to fill either pipeline. "We will make a decision based on commercial reality," Massey said. "But ... why would we put our money and not our gas in the pipeline?"

Other doubters had suggested the pipeline could never happen because of a global gas glut, making the pipeline uneconomical. But with the project slated for completion in 2018, and the need for natural gas expected to rise between 20% and 40% by 2030, it's precisely now that such a project should be built.

"I think it's very shortsighted" to assume that"market conditions are going to stay as they are today," Palin told CNN. In an interview with IBD last July when gasoline hit $4 at the pump, she noted that if drilling had started in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge just five years ago, when policymakers were dismissing the idea of $100-a-barrel oil, "we wouldn't be in our predicament today."

The pipeline will be the largest construction project in North American history.

Sarah Palin Editorial At National Review: Yes, We Can Drill Obama!

Friday, October 16, 2009 2 Responses
Given that we’re spending billions of stimulus dollars to rebuild our highways, it makes sense to think about what we’ll be driving on them. For years to come, most of what we drive will be powered, at least in part, by diesel fuel  gasoline. To fuel that driving, we need access to oil. The less use we make of our own reserves, the more we will have to import, which leads to a number of harmful consequences. That means we need to drill here and drill now.

We rely on petroleum for much more than just powering our vehicles: It is essential in everything from jet fuel to petrochemicals, plastics to fertilizers, pesticides to pharmaceuticals. According to the Energy Information Administration, our total domestic petroleum consumption last year was 19.5 million barrels per day (bpd). Motor gasoline and diesel fuel accounted for less than 13 million bpd of that. Meanwhile, we produced only 4.95 million bpd of domestic crude. In other words, even if we ran all our vehicles on something else (which won’t happen anytime soon), we would still have to depend on imported oil. And we’ll continue that dependence until we develop our own oil resources to their fullest extent.
Those who oppose domestic drilling are motivated primarily by environmental considerations, but many of the countries we’re forced to import from have few if any environmental-protection laws, and those that do exist often go unenforced. In effect, American environmentalists are preventing responsible development here at home while supporting irresponsible development overseas.
My home state of Alaska shows how it’s possible to be both pro-environment and pro-resource-development. Alaskans would never support anything that endangered our pristine air, clean water, and abundant wildlife (which, among other things, provides many of us with our livelihood). The state’s government has made safeguarding resources a priority; when I was governor, for instance, we created a petroleum-systems-integrity office to monitor our oil and gas infrastructure for any potential environmental risks.
Alaska also shows how oil drilling is thoroughly compatible with energy conservation and renewable-energy development. Over 20 percent of Alaska’s electricity currently comes from renewable sources, and as governor I put forward a long-term plan to increase that figure to 50 percent by 2025. Alaska’s comprehensive plan identifies renewable options across the state that can help rural villages transition away from expensive diesel-generated electricity — allowing each community to choose the solution that best fits its needs. That’s important in any energy plan: Tempting as they may be to central planners, top-down, one-size-fits-all solutions are recipes for failure.

For the same reason, the federal government shouldn’t push a single, universal approach to alternative-powered vehicles. Electric cars might work in Los Angeles, but they don’t work in Alaska, where you can drive hundreds of miles without seeing many people, let alone many electrical sockets. And while electric and hybrid cars have their advantages, producing the electricity to power them still requires an energy source. For the sake of the environment, that energy should be generated from the cleanest source available.

Natural gas is one promising clean alternative. It contains fewer pollutants than other fossil fuels, it’s easier to collect and process, and it is found throughout our country. In Alaska, we’re developing the largest private-sector energy project in history — a 3,000-mile, $40 billion pipeline to transport hundreds of trillions of cubic feet of natural gas to markets across the United States. Onshore and offshore natural gas from Alaska and the Lower 48 can satisfy a large part of our energy needs for decades, bringing us closer to energy independence. Whether we use it to power natural-gas cars or to run natural-gas power plants that charge electric cars — or ideally for both — natural gas can act as a clean “bridge fuel” to a future when more renewable sources are available.

In addition to drilling, we need to build new refineries. America currently has roughly 150 refineries, down from over 300 in the 1970s. Due mainly to environmental regulations, we haven’t built a major new refinery since 1976, though our oil consumption has increased significantly since then. That’s no way to secure our energy supply. The post-Katrina jump in gas prices proved that we can’t leave ourselves at the mercy of a hurricane that knocks a few refineries out of commission.

Building an energy-independent America will mean a real economic stimulus. It will mean American jobs that can never be shipped overseas. Think about how much of our trade deficit is fueled by the oil we import — sometimes as much as half of the total. Through this massive transfer of wealth, we lose hundreds of billions of dollars a year that could be invested in our economy. Instead it goes to foreign countries, including some repressive regimes that use it to fund activities that threaten our security.

Reliance on foreign sources of energy weakens America. When a riot breaks out in an OPEC nation, or a developing country talks about nationalizing its oil industry, or a petro-dictator threatens to cut off exports, the probability is great that the price of oil will shoot up. Even in friendly nations, business and financial decisions made for local reasons can destabilize America’s energy market, since the price we pay for foreign oil is subject to rising and falling exchange rates. Decreasing our dependence on foreign sources of energy will reduce the impact of world events on our economy.

In the end, energy independence is not just about the environment or the economy. It’s about freedom and confidence. It’s about building a more secure and peaceful America, an America in which our energy needs will not be subject to the whims of nature, currency speculators, or madmen in possession of vast oil reserves.

Alternative sources of energy are part of the answer, but only part. There’s no getting around the fact that we still need to “drill, baby, drill!” And if those in D.C. say otherwise, we need to tell them: “Yes, we can Drill!”

Enemy Of The People (The Media) Banned From Gov Palin’s Hong Kong Speech

Monday, September 14, 2009 3 Responses

The Hill has reported that the media will not be permitted to attend Governor Palin’s keynote speaking engagement on Wednesday the 23rd of September.

This is great news considering the media has become an embarrassment and in my opinion the most dangerous entity in the world, al Qaeda #2. It is very simple, they have sided with radical Islam verse America, put Obama into power and continue to cover for him, at our detriment, despite the disaster he is and is creating.

The Governor will address 100s of CEOs, fund managers and other financial big-hitters from around the world at the Hong Kong forum.

The event in general is open to the media. But a spokesperson for CLSA, Asia's top investment houses, said that Governor Palin's session with will take place in private.

"Some of our keynote sessions in previous years were also closed to the media. So this is not the first time, Ms Palin has not yet confirmed with us the topic of her speech," the spokesperson added.

Past speakers at the annual CLSA event include former US president Bill Clinton, Clinton's vice president Al Gore, and ex-Federal Reserve chief Alan Greenspan.

Sheriff Sarah Palin, Outlaw Obama And His Posse

Saturday, September 12, 2009 1 Response

Lloyd Marcus, wrote at nice piece for RedCountry.com: Sarah Palin, At High Noon. After watching the classical movie “High Noon” with Gary Cooper, he was amazed at the similarities between Governor Palin’s take charge, fearless and formidable approach to current issues and Obama. He also describes how Outlaw Obama and his posse (main stream media) have come to take over the town and desperately attack Sarah Palin at every opportunity, while claiming she is irrelevant. I posted part of the article:

I thought of another strong, gutsy, bold, stand on principles hero, a woman, Sarah Palin in her own modern day version of High Noon. Sheriff Palin rode into America Town on a white horse with conservative guns blazing and saved a dead McCain campaign. She brought hope to weary and battered conservative town folks and gave them a reason to vote.

Outlaw Obama and his posse, the hate filled liberal media/democrat gang, came to town a gunnin' to politically kill Sheriff Palin. They ambushed her at Miss Katie Couric's CBS saloon. Though shot and wounded numerous times, Sheriff Palin survived.

She bravely stood tall and rode high in the saddle while ungrateful, weak kneed republican town folks ran for cover, hid in their homes and peeked nervously through the curtains.

Why is Outlaw Obama and his gang so committed and desperate to destroy Palin? Could it be they recognize her destiny, like Moses, to set her people free? And why is she so despised by them? Obama's gang hate Palin for all the reasons we LOVE her. Sheriff Palin is a good, decent and strong character driven conservative leader. Palin also believes in God. Such humility and virtues are as repulsive to liberals as showing Dracula the cross.

Something that sticks in the craw of lib women is in their youth, they brought into the feminist rhetoric, “women's liberation means no husband and family”. Tragically, they find themselves aging and alone. Meanwhile, this CONSERVATIVE woman has it all, great career, fine family and a husband who loves and respects her. Adding insult in injury, Sheriff Palin looks mighty fine in her jeans.

Recently, the libs sent an old washed up gunslinger, the Letterman Kid, to challenge Sheriff Palin to a shoot out. Palin planted two bullets between the pathetic old dude's wrinkly eyes before he could un-holster his gun.

Despite Sheriff Palin's courage and willingness to fight, Outlaw Obama and his posse rule America Town. They are in the process of taking over EVERYTHING! Obama took over the livery stable and banned horses. While he and his posse continue riding horses, we town folks are forced to ride miniature ponies.

But in the spirit of what has made America Town great, an uprising is a brewin'. A HUGE conservative posse is building daily. Our first battle will be in 2010 to win back America Town's House and Senate. Then, in 2012, God willing and the creek don't rise, Sheriff Palin will lead us to VICTORY in the battle of Little Big Washington DC. Years earlier, another great lawman cleaned up America Town, Sheriff Ronald Reagan.

After Sheriff Palin sweeps out the Obama gang, perhaps once again, we will be as what Sheriff Reagan affectionately called us, “a shining city on a hill”.

Governor Palin's Letter To Obama: Very Concerned About Afghan Strategy

Monday, September 07, 2009 0 Responses

Washington, DC – A distinguished group of Americans active in the foreign policy debate expressed support today for the U.S. effort in Afghanistan, and called upon President Obama to continue to provide the necessary resources requested by his commanders on the ground to ensure success. In an open letter organized by the Foreign Policy Initiative (FPI), the group offered its appreciation for the president’s decision earlier this year to deploy 21,000 additional U.S. troops to the country, and urged him to continue to properly resource the war effort. Given increasing public concern about the U.S. commitment in Afghanistan, the letter also suggests that the President make it a priority to explain to the American people why it is important to remain committed to winning in Afghanistan, and why such a victory is feasible.

The letter’s signatories write: “The situation in Afghanistan is grave and deteriorating…Since the announcement of your administration’s new strategy, we have been troubled by calls for a drawdown of American forces in Afghanistan and a growing sense of defeatism about the war. With General McChrystal expected to request additional troops later this month, we urge you to continue on the path you have taken thus far and give our commanders on the ground the forces they need to implement a successful counterinsurgency strategy. There is no middle course. Incrementally committing fewer troops than required would be a grave mistake and may well lead to American defeat. We will not support half-measures that repeat the errors of the past.”

The letter’s signers so far are: Steve Biegun, Max Boot, Paul Bremer, Christian Brose, Debra Burlingame, Eliot A. Cohen, Ryan C. Crocker, Thomas Donnelly, Eric Edelman, William S. Edgerly, Jamie M. Fly, David Frum, Abe Greenwald, John Hannah, Pete Hegseth, Margaret Hoover, Thomas Joscelyn, Frederick W. Kagan, Robert Kagan, William Kristol, Tod Lindberg, Herbert London, Clifford May, Robert C. McFarlane, Joshua Muravchik, Sarah Palin, Keith Pavlischek, Beverly Perlson, Danielle Pletka, John Podhoretz, Stephen Rademaker, Karl Rove, Jennifer Rubin, Randy Scheunemann, Gary Schmitt, Dan Senor, Ashley Tellis, Marc Thiessen, Daniel Twining, Peter Wehner, Kenneth Weinstein, and Christian Whiton.

CNN: Sarah Palin Has Emerged As The Tea Party Leader

Saturday, September 05, 2009 0 Responses

Looks like even CNN has had enough of this embarrassing socialist doing everything to destroy America. I would say Obama is Jimmy Carter on steroids with a muslim element. Not Good!

Looking for a leader, Tea Partiers issue invite to Palin

Posted: September 3rd, 2009 05:11 AM ET

From CNN All Platform Journalist Jim Spellman

EL PASO, Texas (CNN) — As the Tea Party Express makes its way across the country, Sarah Palin has emerged as a favorite daughter of the movement, and organizers have invited her to join the tour — or at least come to the final stop in the nation's capital. The bus is scheduled to end its nationwide journey in Washington on Saturday, September 12.

"We've been in touch with her people, letting her know the response that we've gotten. She's very suportive of the movement," says Joe Wierzbicki, one of the organizers traveling on the Tea Party Express. So far, no politician has emerged as a leader of the Tea Party movement – and the question of just who might eventually take up the mantle is a hot topic on the bus. Nobody may be better positioned than Palin — but organizers, some of the most motivated members of the conservative base, still say she'll need to earn that title. "Right now there's a handful of people who strike a chord with the tea party base, and she is certainly one of those people," says Wierzbicki. "Whether or not she emerges as one of those leaders, that's between her and the American people."

Sal Russo, another organizer of the Tea Party Express, launched his career in conservative politics working for Ronald Reagan's California gubernatorial campaign in 1966. Russo thinks Palin might emerge as a leader of the Tea Party movement – but she'll have to earn that title first. "I think it's a possibility," he says. "When the election was over in November, I think her support was a lot stronger than it is today. She's got to kind of get her act together, and develop a presence with the public that inspires some confidence.

"She could be the kind of person that becomes the leader of the Tea Party movement, but she hasn't done anything yet to assume that role." At tea party protests, Palin's is the name heard most often amongst participants. In El Paso, Texas Wednesday, the crowd chanted "Sar-rah, Sar-rah." One hot item: "Draft Sarah Palin 2012 t-shirts. Tom and Susan Mendez came to the tea party in Albuquerque looking for a leader. They have two homes in foreclosure. Tom, a general contractor, is having trouble finding work.

"This movement needs direction," he told CNN. He said he fears the concerns of the tea partiers may not be heard in Washington.

"They're not getting the message from us, so they need to get the message from someone. Maybe Sarah Palin." His wife Susan lit up at the mention of Palin's name. She voted for Ron Paul last year, and has a dream ticket in mind. "Palin and Paul sound good to me," she said.

2012 Draft Sarah Committee Newsletter Sept 09

Tuesday, September 01, 2009 0 Responses

The Chairman's Corner - Randy Highsmith

In a recent email I was asked why we were not organizing by Congressional District. That is an excellent question and the answer is, we are, eventually. At this point what we want to do, is to have ACTIVEorganizers in every state, most colleges and the large population centers of each state. From that point, we will be recruiting Congressional District Organizers. On a related note, we continue to grow our list of newsletter subscribers, volunteers and organizers, but we are not satisfied with just growing our list. We seek to impact the process by making a strong showing at next year's CPAC Conference and help Sarah win the straw poll. In this year's straw poll Governor Palin tied for third, one point behind 2nd place winner Bobby Jindal and 7 points behind the winner Mitt Romney. If we are going to make a strong showing and help Governor Palin win in 2012 we must start at the 2010 CPAC Convention by lobbying and educating the attendees on why they should support Sarah.

Sometimes I am asked why aren't you (the Committee) doing this or that or why didn't you do this or that faster. I have to remind everyone that none of your Board of Directors, organizers or anyone else involved with running this committee is paid. Most of us have full times jobs, and a family to take care of so we have to balance this cause we believe so much in with the rest of our lives. In fact all your Board of Directors has not only put in time for this cause but financial contributions as well. If we don't, how can we ask for your time and support? Don't get me wrong, we welcome your thoughts, constructive criticism and suggestions, but are limited on what we can choose to undertake.

I want to mention that an excellent place to get up to date, accurate information about Sarah is from her official Facebook page. Her page is; http://www.facebook.com/sarahpalin. Any other page that claims to be her or represent her is fraudulent. At the bottom of this newsletter you will find a link to our Facbook page, our Myspace, YouTube and our Twitter page. Please join us on all those networks if you have an account.

ATTENTION MEDIA and those with, media contacts. Our Media Director/Spokesperson Adrienne Ross is available for National and Local interviews. She is ready and willing to share the purpose and vision of the 2012 Draft Sarah Committee. Speaking of Adrienne, in July she had the opportunity to spend a month in the great state of Alaska. Further down in this newsletter, she shares her experience.

2012 Draft Sarah Committee Organizer Spends a Month in Alaska

By Adrienne Ross

New York State Organizer Media Director - Media@2012DraftSarahCommittee.com

Some people dream of traveling to Alaska for a week, maybe two. When that dream becomes a reality, they realize that the experience is not one they will soon forget. So imagine my delight at spending an entire month in God’s Country, as Alaska is affectionately called by those who live there—and now me.

During my time in Alaska, I spent time in several parts of the state: Fairbanks, Wasilla, Palmer, Anchorage, Homer, Seward, Valdez, McCarthy, and North Pole. Most of my trip was spent in Wasilla, Sarah Palin’s own hometown, and I understand why she speaks so highly of “home,” for Wasilla was definitely a place that felt like home. Residents were definitely some of the friendliest, most welcoming people I have ever met, and I never felt like an outsider looking in. Wasilla, to me, represents all that is good in America—as does Sarah Palin.

So was my month there a pleasure trip or was there 2012 Draft Sarah Committee business to attend to? Yes and yes! There’s no such thing as a trip to Alaska without pleasure involved, and had Sarah Palin never come on the national scene, it is likely that I would never have gone to Alaska, but now, I can’t wait to return. I live in a part of New York that is nothing to sneeze at. It certainly has beauty of its own, but it can’t compare to the mountains, the glaciers, and the wildlife of Alaska. If I said, “Wow!” once, I said it a hundred times as I simply looked around me. “Wow” was all I could muster, but it still doesn’t do Alaska justice.

Barely 36 hours after arriving in Alaska, Sarah announced she would be stepping down as governor. What a shock, what a historic time to be in Alaska, and what a wide range of emotions for me!

The next day, July 4th, I marched in the Wasilla parade with the Valley Republican Women’s Club of Alaska. There, I met some of the governor’s family and friends as we marched alongside one another in the parade. Sarah’s friend, Ivy, introduced me to many, and a special joy was meeting Sarah’s daughter, Piper, and Mr. and Mrs. Heath, Sarah’s parents. I had the greatest time joking around with Mr. Heath. As a teacher and basketball enthusiast, I enjoyed challenging him—a former teacher and coach himself—to a game of one on one. He said, “How old are you?” When I answered him, he said, “You’re going to take advantage of me!”

I received unique joy after the parade when I got to turn aside to Governor Palin’s mom and dad to tell them I believe God has a beautiful plan for their daughter’s life and encouraged them in that truth. If Chuck Heath’s calling card is his sense of humor, Sally Heath’s is her sweetness. From the moment I saw her, I understood why Sarah ignites crowds. She has her mother’s spirit, for sure.

Little did I know that before the month was over I would meet Bristol and Tripp, once again meet Willow, and meet little Trig for the first time. As Trig has touched my heart in the most special of ways, it was all I could do not to smother him in a big hug. I did take his hand in mine, however.

The timing of my trip afforded the perfect opportunity for the 2012 Draft Sarah Committee to get our message out. Everyone wanted to know, “What’s next for Sarah Palin?” As the Media Director/Spokesperson, I was interviewed nine times in July. Among these were an interview for The New Yorker, three interviews on the Eddie Burke Radio Show, and a television interview with Fox News on July 26th, the day Governor Palin turned the reins over to Sean Parnell at the Fairbanks Governor’s Picnic. It was a privilege to share the goal of the Committee, which is to do the grassroots work necessary to help Sarah Palin win the 2012 presidential nomination. Additionally, it was an honor to speak up for the values that Sarah Palin represents, values like fiscal responsibility, energy independence, the sanctity of life, and support of our military. It was especially satisfying to tell the world that Sarah Palin’s support has not diminished at all. On the contrary; it has exploded. And while I enjoyed the opportunity to speak for the Committee, the hard work there is being done on a regular basis by April Moore and Lynette Bergh who are the Organizers leading the charge there in Alaska.

The month went by much too fast, the climax of which was the honor of meeting Sarah Palin again. I spent a little time with her and Todd over the course of a weekend in Auburn, NY, when she was there to celebrate Founder’s Day in June. Seeing and speaking to the Palins again in their home state of Alaska was a great joy. I have always known that Sarah Palin is the real deal—a woman who adores her family, a public servant who has selflessly sacrificed for her state and nation, and a person of great faith and integrity. Spending even a little time in her presence only drives that truth home all the more.

The 2012 Draft Sarah Committee continues to be fired up by what Sarah Palin represents for America. Trips like this one to Alaska only turn up the heat! I was so blessed to have this opportunity. It’s something I will cherish for a lifetime, yet I am convinced “the best is yet to come.”
