Governor Palin: Alaska Contains 25% Of World's Untapped Oil (US Geological Survey Confirms)
Wednesday, June 03, 2009
Governor Palin was right about Alaska reserves. Overlooked by many news sources, the U.S. Geological Society has revealed that Alaska's Chuckchi Sea rests on 25% or 29.9 Billion Barrels of the worlds undiscovered Oil.
Reported by the Chicago Tribune and according to Circum-Arctic Resource Appraisal: Estimates of Undiscovered Oil & Gas North of the Arctic Circle Alaska also holds 13% of the worlds undiscovered natural gas & 13.4% of the worlds undiscovered natural gas liquids. Simply put this is enough U.S. energy to achieve self-sufficiency & never worry about it as a national security question again.
The report found that 70% of the worlds undiscovered oil resources is estimated to occur in 5 provinces: Arctic Alaska, Amerasia Basin, East Greenland Rift Basins, East Barents Basins, and West Greenland–East Canada. Also more than 70% of the worlds undiscovered natural gas is estimated to occur in 3 provinces, the West Siberian Basin, the East Barents Basins & Arctic Alaska.
It is further estimated that approximately 84% of the undiscovered oil & gas occurs offshore. The total worlds undiscovered conventional oil & gas resources of the Arctic are estimated to be approximately 90 billion barrels of oil (Alaska 25% or 29.9 billion barrels of oil), 1,669 trillion cubic feet of natural gas (Alaska 13% or 221.397 trillion cubic feet Of natural gas), & 44 billion barrels of natural gas liquids (Alaska holds 13.4% or 5.9 billion barrels Of natural gas liquids).

Anonymous Said,
Nah, we should tap that oil only when the Arabs finish their reserves - and we export it to them at twice the price!
