Wiseman: Sarah Palin / Barbour On 2012 GOP Ticket

Tuesday, January 05, 2010 2 Responses
Paul Sims, of the Starkville Daily News, reported from the Starkville Rotary Club meeting on comments from Professor W. Martin Wiseman director of the John C. Stennis Institute of Government at Mississippi State University.

Could Gov. Haley Barbour share the Republican ticket with former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin in the 2012 presidential election?  It’s a theory Mississippi State University political science professor Marty Wiseman suggested to Starkville Rotary Club members as he spoke to them Monday. [...]

Palin served just over two and a half years as Alaska’s governor. If she wins the primary, a question Republicans may ask is “Who can we get to who will add gravitas?,” Wiseman said. Barbour at the time will have been a two-term governor and be held in “by far the highest standing among Republican governors,”  [...]

As Mississippi’s seated governor, Barbour is grappling with a budget shortfall Wiseman says officials project will reach upwards of $1 billion over the next 12 to 24 months.  Barbour has not announced any intention to run for president.[...]

Democrats would hope Palin considers a third-party run for president, splitting the Republican vote, the political science professor said.

Message From Draft Sarah Committee To Supporters

Let’s hit the ground running!

Dear 2012 Draft Sarah Committee Supporter,

We are on the verge of entering 2010, so let me be the first to wish you a Happy New Year!

2009 has been a challenging year for the nation, but one where Governor Palin has taken a stand on a variety of issues that are so crucial to America’s progress. It’s also the year of her best-selling memoir, Going Rogue. I am confident 2010 will be even more exciting.

The 2012 Draft Sarah Committee started 2009 by attending CPAC in February, which brings me to the point of this correspondence. CPAC, held in our nation’s capital, is the leading conservative gathering in the country. It was at CPAC where we were able to tell people more about the Committee, get feedback from Americans regarding Governor Palin, and acquire valuable contact information as we gained a myriad of online newsletter subscribers and volunteers. February is fast-approaching, and once again the 2012 Draft Sarah Committee wants to have a presence at CPAC.

We need your help.

In honor of 2010, I am asking you to start off the year with a $20 or $10 donation—or more—to the Committee. Contributions will go first towards booth rental and then towards material such as bumper stickers, flyers, shirts, and buttons for CPAC. Many of you are faithful to donate to SarahPAC; would you consider going above and beyond that contribution to make one to the 2012 Draft Sarah Committee as well, and would you consider making that contribution by the 10th of January?

We are doing important work, and even Governor Palin saw fit to thank us in Going Rogue. While we do operate independently of her, we are honored that she has taken note of our efforts. We want to carry on in this new year.

Please visit the website, www.2012draftsarahcommittee.com, to make your donation.

Thank you for considering a gift of $20 or $10, and Happy 2010 once again!

Respectfully,

Randy Highsmith
Chairman

Sarah Palin: ESR's Person of the Year for 2009

Monday, January 04, 2010 1 Response
Enter Stage Right and author Steve Martinovich has awarded Sarah Palin Person of the Year for 2009 for a 2nd year.
Top two finishers: former Alaska governor Sarah Palin and Fox News star Glenn Beck. The winner was decided by narrowest of margins: Sarah Palin
  • She exudes a positive can-do attitude and has valiantly soldiered on after more than a year of constant berating by the media and Hollywood -- with charm and grace, I might add. Sarah Palin is the embodiment of the American experience. -- a voter [...]
She was one of the most effective critics of Obamacare and forced the media to address proposals -- such as the alleged death panels -- that they would have preferred to ignore.
  • Because she is irrepressible. She embodies the American spirit of freedom, with that touch of rebellion (the "rogue") that won't be silenced, won't be repressed, won't be diminished or demeaned. The love the people have for her is an expression of their deep hope for America's future in the face of an entrenched and intractable political machine selling our birthright down the pike. -- a voter  [...]
It's hard to believe, however, that we've heard the last from Palin. Despite what her critics argue, and as she capably proved in 2009, Palin brings passion, insight and a Reagan-esque positive attitude about America and on that she has the current monopoly.

Sarah Palin Gives Hope For Future Like The Great Jewish Heroine Esther

Friday, January 01, 2010 0 Responses
ReaganToPalin uncovered a very well written Op-Ed in the Gloucester Times, by Stuart Diamond:

I admire Sarah Palin. She gives me hope for the future, and reminds me of the great Jewish heroine Esther.

Humble, reverential and courageous. I hope she becomes the first female president of the United States. I have carefully observed the impressive onslaught of lies and hatred directed at her since she joined John McCain in his bid for the White House.

I will review just a few of her splendid accomplishments.

What I like most about Sarah Palin is her love for her husband and her children. I've long believed there is nothing nobler a person can do in this life than to do a good job raising their children; it appears that Todd and Sarah Palin have an excellent marriage and a great family.

That's no small success in this divorce-ravaged society.

My second favorite thing about Sarah Palin is her love for her country. I know that her political activism springs from a deep appreciation of our rich history and hope-filled future.

I see in her that pioneering spirit I read of in my favorite book, Undaunted Courage, about Lewis & Clark's exploration of the unsettled West. Whenever Sarah speaks of Alaska and the people of Alaska her love and excitement for the Alaskan experience is evident. Every year I intently follow my favorite sporting event the Iditarod dog sled race across the interior of the Alaskan wilderness.

That same American spirit I see in the participants of that daunting and severely testing competition is what I see in Sarah Palin. She is up to the challenge to change America for the better and has the indefatigable spirit to follow her convictions against a blizzard of opposition.

Sarah is no smooth-tongued politician. She is indeed a hockey mom. And, having raised a hockey player, I know what she means by that. She is from smalltown America but had the grace, self-confidence, moral integrity and intelligence to step out of complete obscurity on to the grand stage of the national political scene and to win the admiration and affection of millions of Americans.

These are the same Americans who made her book, "Going Rogue," a smash best seller before it's even hit the shelves. The word 'rogue' was used disparagingly about Mrs. Palin during the campaign. But, as with her appearance on SNL, SP has turned her critics' smear tactics to her advantage.

Sarah is very intelligent and has a good sense of humor. Thank her school secretary mom and science teacher dad for that.

Those who desperately fear the Christian moral foundations of her humanity went to great lengths to portray her as stupid. All they did was display their hatred for the very principles upon which our country achieved its greatness and how fearful they are of a person who still embodies the morality which our country has tragically abandoned.

A prominent figure in the American Revolution, Patrick Henry, wrote: "It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here."

In days to come, Sarah Palin will face an avalanche of hostility and slander unparalleled in modern American politics but she will overwhelm and lay to waste all her detractors.  Just wait and see.
