(Photos & Video) 16,000 To See Woman Who Is The Face Of Tea Party In Louisville

Saturday, April 17, 2010 4 Responses
(WHAS11)  The woman who has become the face of the tea party movement was in Louisville Friday night.
Republican Sarah Palin had just wrapped up a speech at freedom hall, where WHAS11’s Stephanie Collins discovered that no cameras or reporters were allowed inside.

She does have more on the size of the crowd and their reaction to Palin in this video.

Sarah Palin told a Freedom Hall crowd of about 16,000 Friday night that she was there to inspire women in their faith, not to talk politics.
But... Palin — now a best-selling author and headline speaker at tea-party tax protests — did plenty of both in the course of her nearly hour-long talk at an evangelical Christian women’s conference.
“This nation needs you,” Palen told the women. “Know the facts. Stand for what’s right. Don’t be discouraged by the mocking of those who want to claim we just cling to our religion. I’m the first to admit — yeah, I do cling to my faith. That’s all I’ve got.”

Palin mixed stories of personal struggles, calls for women to be good mothers and good citizens and criticism of Barack Obama — without ever mentioning him by name. She asked for the women — who greeted her with an enthusiastic standing ovation — to provide a “prayer shield” to strengthen her against what she said was “deception” in the media.
She denounced this week’s Wisconsin federal court ruling that government observance of a National Day of Prayer was unconstitutional — which the crowd joined in booing. She asserted that America needs to get back to its Christian roots and rejected any notion that “God should be separated from the state.”
“Hearing any leader declare that America isn’t a Christian nation and poking at allies like Israel in the eye — it is mind-boggling to see some of our nation’s actions recently, but politics truly is a topic for another day,” Palin said.

The event became sold out quickly after Gov. Palin was announced as a speaker. According to Waldrep, the event drew under 5,000 last year without Sarah Palin as the keynote speaker.

Ron Paul & Mitt Romney Stack Straw Poll At SRLC

Monday, April 12, 2010 1 Response
The Southern Republican Leadership Conference Straw Poll doesn't carry a whole lot of weight, since it's skewed — like most of these things — by the makeup of the crowd, the intensity of Ron Paul's supporters and the ease of gaming the vote.
That doesn't mean, however, that the various camps aren't trying to game it. One of the organizers told me that two groups, Paul's Campaign for Liberty and Evangelicals for Mitt (which denies ties to Romney) have purchased blocks of tickets to the event, typically given to supporters.
And CBS's Brian Montopoli just got a bit of insight into how this works:
I spoke to a young female delegate who said she planned to vote for Romney in the poll. I asked her how she had ended up at the conference.
She said Evangelicals for Mitt had contacted her and offered to pay for her to have a limited-access ticket — as long as she agreed to vote for Romney in the straw poll.
Asked how Evangelicals for Mitt got her name, she said she didn't know. But she said that she was on the e-mail list for Romney and speculated that the Romney team had given out their e-mail list.
I've e-mailed a Romney spokesman to ask if they shared the list.
UPDATE: Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom says Romney's PAC hasn't shared its list, and that he's not aware of any other list.
And a Paul supporter gets hold of the full e-mail from Evangelicals for Mitt's Nancy French, which requires ticket recipients to promise to vote for Romney:
Evangelicals for Mitt is trying to get people there who would vote for Gov. Romney in a straw poll. It is customary for potential Presidential candidates to make an effort to get friendly people at the conference to help their showing in the straw polls, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.

USSA: Join Us To Petition Discovery Channel & Support Sarah Palin

Monday, April 05, 2010 1 Response
(Columbus) – The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA) is one of numerous groups that are condemning the latest public relations smear campaign by the animal rights group Defenders of Wildlife targeting former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
Defender’s has sent out numerous e-mail pleas to its membership asking that they contact Discovery Communications Inc., the parent company of the popular Discovery and Animal Planet channels, and urge it to drop a proposed new documentary to be called “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” in which the former governor will star.
The Defender’s campaign largely rests on a gross mischaracterization of then Alaska Gov. Palin’s wolf management plan and recycled outrage at her opposition to designating polar bears as “threatened” under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
According to the Defender’s website, over 125,000 people have signed an online petition the group intends to forward to Discovery’s CEO David Zaslav.
The USSA has stood up against Defender’s before when the group used the wolf issue during fundraising appeals in 2009.  At that time, the USSA and several other leading conservation groups sent a letter to Gov. Palin outlining support for the policy.
The USSA stands by this letter as an accurate representation of the policy.  It clarifies that the Alaska program avoids game population decimation, especially for moose and caribou “through a rigorously controlled, scientifically based system.”  To view the full letter, Click Here.
The USSA also shares Gov. Palin’s concerns over the ESA designation of polar bears as endangered. That decision was based largely on an unverifiable 50 year projection of what could happen as a result of global warming.
“Once again, Defender’s of Wildlife have chosen to engage in misleading emotional appeals in order to tarnish the reputation of Gov. Palin,” said Bud Pidgeon, USSA president and CEO.  “Whatever one’s politics, Gov. Palin should not be falsely accused of being anti-conservation when her actions were in concert with wildlife management professionals and verifiable science.”
Take Action!  Sportsmen can let Discovery Communications know that they support their production of “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” by writing a letter to David Zaslav.
Inform him that Gov. Palin is regarded as a conservationist by those inside and outside the wildlife management community and the rhetoric coming from Defender’s reflects an unscientific, emotional appeal.  It fails to take into account the science supporting the wolf management program in Alaska as well as the lack of science used to place the polar bear on the endangered species list.

Redstate: Sarah Palin Should Be The Nominee In 2012! Romney’s Candidacy Died Sunday

Monday, March 22, 2010 1 Response
I saw Sarah Palin on the O’Reilly Factor and I am convinced that she is the best candidate to run against Obama and Obama-care. She is the only prospective candidate that is a real conservative and the only one that can solidly run against Obama-care. If anyone can beat Obama it is Sarah Palin and no some middle of the road moderate.
Conservatives will spend the better part of the decade trying to erase and defeat Obama-care. I pray they will be successful.  Mitt Romney’s 2012 candidacy died today and he knows it. The Republican strategy is now and forever running against socialism and Obama-care and not embracing it.  We do not need a republican that enabled the model for Obama-care and championed it, while he was Governor of Massachusetts. The Republicans must beat Obama-care in court and at the state level and take the White House. They do not do this by agreeing with Obama and the leftists on socialized medicine.
Sarah Palin has been a strong critic of Obama-care and will absolutely run against it with no apologies. The Republican party must remain a conservative party and not a liberal party. The Republicans must succeed where the “so called” conservatives in Britain and Canada failed and end national health-care! I think we can win this war and I hope we have real conservatives willing to fight it and not lousy RINOS willing to go along with it. That is why Sarah Palin should be the nominee! This is a fight that will probably last a decade.
