Dissecting Gov Palin’s 2012 Candidacy (Palin - Giuliani 2012)

As more and more of the country is realizing Obama is a communist and a monumental disaster, dreams of 2010 and 2012 are vivid and nightly. Race for 2008 posted its analysis of each candidate on domestic and foreign policy. I included their analysis on Governor Palin and Mayor Giuliani, since I think they would make a great team. I do not believe he is a RINO, they have similar political styles and they are friends. You can also check-out their analysis on Tim Pawlenty, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Tom Ridge, Mike Huckabee, Gary Johnson and Ron Paul.

Foreign Policy

The majority of the 2012 candidates fall in line with the Republican party principles of free trade and first strike defense policy. Although the flexible response/non-interventionist voice remains loud and active, it continues to be a shrinking philosophy within the party.

Sarah Palin – Has continued to surround herself with the neoconservative intelligentsia and recently outlined her foreign policy axiom in a speech to the investor community in Hong Kong. Palin has always been a strong proponent of free trade, moving Alaska towards an export driven economy during her term as Governor. Palin has displayed flexibility on the issue of immigration and remains steadfast on the neocon approach to terrorism, the Afghan mission and missile defense.

Rudy Giuliani – The former Mayor of the most diverse city in the world has continued his engagement of the global community through his private sector work in the areas of business and security. Rudy is a vocal proponent of first strike defense measures and free trade.

Domestic Policy

The party hierarchy and grassroots appear ready to move beyond the era of compassionate conservatism. The divide in the Republican party has morphed from solely an ideological one (moderate versus conservative) to a battle between the establishment and anti-establishment. This has made for some strange bedfellows in our party leadership and is reflected in the positioning the 2012 candidates have taken on domestic policy.

Sarah Palin - Is the most prominent example of the modern conservatism blend of western libertarianism and social conservatism. Palin opposes activism of any type at the federal level, whether it is economic or judicial policy. Palin has vocally opposed the expansion of federal powers in the areas of health care, the federal reserve, spending, taxation and environmental regulation. As Governor, Palin turned a dire fiscal situation into a stable future and became a leading voice on expanding domestic energy development.

Rudy Giuliani - In 2008, he campaigned on the providing taxpayers with the largest tax cut in American history. Rudy received support from many members of the Club for Growth and Wall Street financiers. Although Rudy committed to nominating federal Judges that would strictly interpret the constitution, his views on abortion, gay rights and federal funding of embryonic stem cell research are moderate to the majority views in the Republican party. Rudy has a strong record on law and order issues from his two terms as Mayor of New York City.

Gov Sarah Palin On Facebook: Best Wishes for the Jewish High Holidays

Todd and I would like to offer our best wishes to the Jewish community as they celebrate the High Holy Days. With the celebration of the Jewish New Year this week and the observance of the Day of Atonement next week, we are reminded of the hopeful commitment to renewal and peace exemplified by the Jewish tradition and the Jewish people throughout history.

Yom Kippur, the most solemn and important of the Jewish holy days, is a time of reflection and supplication for forgiveness. The timeless human struggle to promote justice, harmony, and peace is seen here in this process of atonement – in humbly seeking pardon for past wrongs in the hope of a new beginning. It reminds us that if we wish to co-exist globally, we must all strive for forgiveness and tolerance.

A speech was given at the United Nations General Assembly yesterday that was full of hateful anti-Semitic rhetoric. It was a shameful display before a body whose very charter is premised on the need for co-operation and harmony in pursuit of peaceful co-existence between nations. Such talk was especially abhorrent coming as it did during the Jewish High Holidays. The world community must speak with one voice in declaring anti-Semitism and all forms of intolerance and racism utterly unacceptable. There is no place in the community of peace-loving nations for those who traffic in hate or deny the terrible atrocity of the Nazi Holocaust.

In this holy season, we join the Jewish people in the struggle to promote justice, harmony, and peace. May God bless them.

WSJ: Palin On China “Ideas Worth Listening To, Obama Could Take A Page From This Book”

Sarah Palin was pounded by the media as a foreign-policy novice during last year's presidential campaign. But when it comes to the U.S. approach toward China, she has ideas worth listening to.

"Twenty years ago, many believed that as China liberalized its economy, greater political freedom would naturally follow," the former Alaska governor and Republican nominee for the vice presidency told a Hong Kong audience yesterday. "Unfortunately that has not come to pass."

The solution, she argues, is to encourage political change from within China—a movement that regained momentum last year with the launch of Charter 08, a democratic manifesto.

Such developments, she argued, are in everyone's interest. "The more politically open and just China is, the more Chinese citizens of every ethnicity will settle disputes in courts rather than on the streets," she said. The more open China is, "the less we will be concerned about its military buildup and intentions."

Mrs. Palin also espoused the value of alliances with like-minded democratic countries in the region such as Japan, Australia and India. The U.S. "can, must and should" work with China to address issues of "mutual concern," she said. "But we also need to work with our allies in addressing the uncertainties created by China's rise."

The Obama Administration could take a page from this book. So far, the White House has gone out of its way to downplay human rights in China and tiptoe around recent crackdowns in Tibet and Xinjiang, preferring to focus on hipper issues like climate change. This "don't ask, don't tell" approach to Beijing does no favors to the Chinese people, much less to the West's core interests in Asia. At the same time, America's other alliances in the region have been largely ignored.

Gov Palin Dominates 2nd Straw Poll 55%, Romney 15% & Huckabee 10%

Governor Palin easily handles Politico's Straw Poll: Who should have won the presidential straw poll at the Values Voter Summit? by a very very wide margin. The Governor took a overwhelming majority of 55% to Governor Romney’s 15% and Governor Huckabee’s 10%. A total of 24,046 votes were cast.

Politico created this poll to demostrate that in a controlled environment, like the Values Voter Summit, poll results can be skewed in anyones favor. The Summit was attended by Romney, Huckabee and Pawlenty along with many of their supporters and, as expected, the Values Voter Summit poll was in their favor. I also recall problems with the 2009 CPAC presidential poll. Romney supporters voted often and frequently before CPAC officials caught on, 24 hours later, and changed the registration rule to only a single vote per person.
