The mainstream media often dismisses Palin's chances of winning the presidency, but doing so ignores her closeness to where then-Senator Obama stood entering the 2006 midterm elections. Her potential path to the White House would resemble the one Obama took. By any measure, a simple comparison of their ascendancies shows how strategically Palin is positioned to ride the brewing discontent at Obama's reckless fiscal policies to become the nation's first female president, just like Obama rode the anti-Bush and antiwar wave to become the nation's first black president. The Wave: Retaining Deaniacs and Paul-ites:
Likewise, Ron Paul supporters in the 2008 GOP primaries play a role similar to 2004's Deaniacs. Like the Deaniacs, the Paul-ites were thorns in the side of the establishment, and they fiercely voiced their anger at Washington's reckless spending before it was popular to do so. By speaking out consistently and forcefully against Obama's policies and priorities that have crippled the nation with debt, such as the stimulus and health care reform, Palin has harnessed the frustrations of Ron Paul supporters and Tea Partiers; their concerns and enthusiasm are likely to dominate the 2012 presidential primary, and Palin is well-positioned to be their champion. The Base: Blacks and Evangelicals:
And just as blacks make up nearly half of the electorate in some Democratic primaries in Southern states, evangelicals make up a majority of Republican primary voters in early primary states such as Iowa and South Carolina, which makes Palin more than formidable in the nominating process. Further, should she win the nomination, enthusiastic evangelicals, just as enthusiastic blacks did for Obama, will likely give Palin a very highh floor of support that will enable her to position herself to court independents and disaffected Democrats in the general election.
The Internet: Using Social Networking to Increase Turnout:
Whereas the Obama campaign gave his supporters the tools to organically organize, Palin has used Facebook and Twitter to go around what she calls "the lamestream media" and speak directly to her supporters or opine about and influence current events (like her enthusiastic support of Arizona's immigration legislation) in a way Obama never did or imagined (it is worth noting that Obama never had to go around the mainstream media, since they were more than willing to aid and abet his candidacy). Like Obama, Palin also has plenty of groups that are forming online, such as Conservatives4Palin.com, Vets4Sarah.net, and Draft Sarah2012, that can be incorporated into a larger political organization.  
The Brand: Obama, Inc. and Palin, Inc:
Should she challenge Obama in 2012, Palin, who has run a state and a small business, will have to answer similar doubts about her leadership abilities. Team Obama and its allies will consistently call her a "quitter" or a "half-term governor," and Palin, like Obama in '08, can quell these doubts by hiring the right people and running a seamless organization devoid of turmoil and drama. How she manages Palin, Inc. will determine whether voters will trust her to lead the country.
When Obama was mulling a presidential run in 2006, his chief advisor David Axelrod, as reported by Dan Balz and Haynes Johnson, told him that "history is replete with potential candidates for the presidency who waited too long rather than examples of people who ran too soon. ... You will never be hotter than you are right now."

Have you ever seen a more out-of-its-mind mob than the liberal media yowling at the moon over Governor Palin? I can't remember any. Well, maybe the Danish cartoon riots in Peshawar, Pakistan. Or the old Kluxers in Mississippi before the real Civil Rights movement.
The left has all the subtlety of a high-tech lynch mob, as Clarence Thomas said in 1991, when they went all-out to destroy his good name before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Clarence Thomas knows about lynch mobs from the old South, and nobody has labeled the media better. Mad-dog, foaming-at-the-mouth, baying mediot mob. They prove it every day. Just watch 'em. They will do it again and again, until we stop buying their bull.
Sarah Palin freaks out the media -- especially the feminists -- like a combined Ronald Reagan and Clarence Thomas. She is their 9/11.  [...]
If 'Bam is "historic" for being black (which is bizarre enough), Palin will be doubly historic for being a passionately conservative female president. Skin color is only skin-deep.
With President Sarah Palin, we will get a sane and moral foreign policy, totally different from Obama's wacky prostration to the King of Saudi. Palin will work to reverse the damage done by Obama's Medical Piracy Act -- a big, big job. And best of all, Palin gives a wonderful example of what women (and men) can achieve. Sarah Palin is a normal person with a normal life who decided to fix what's rotten in Anchorage -- and now Washington, D.C.
What could be better than that?
Liberals get Palin's charisma vibes right off the bat. They can feel it running up their legs. Conservatives are more skeptical about politicians who inspire so much passion in millions of people. Well, skepticism is a good thing. It's what the liberals completely lost when they fell into abject, derrière-kissing love with The One. Now they are finally having second thoughts, when it's way too late. They have exposed who they really are with Obama, and even Soros is disappointed. Obama is the Buster Keaton president. If there's a banana skin he hasn't slipped on yet, he will locate it before his term runs out. Whoops! There he goes again! [...]
We are seeing a fight within the Republican Party, but this is nothing new. Ronald Reagan was defeated by establishment Republicans before he won the nomination. Today, the establishment would be running scared about Reagan, because he could not be bought and controlled. This is happening all over again. Reagan defeated Bush I for the presidency, and Barbara Bush may harbor an old grievance about that. Well, so be it. Constitutionalist conservatives are awake and keeping score.[...]
Sarah Palin is a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon in politics. She is a charismatic constitutionalist. It's the combination that's so vital. Reagan had it. It scares the Democrats to death.
It is time for a constitutionalist who can talk straight with the American people. Human nature hasn't changed. The U.S. Constitution has not lost relevance. It is still the only functioning revolutionary political document in history. The Constitution limits the power class. Marxism empowers the powerful. It's not hard to understand. If Sarah Palin can get that single truth across to the American people, she will win and go on to become another Ronald Reagan.
Expect all the Establishment forces to fight against a constitutionalist conservative for president. It scares them more than a Marxist in the White House.

The American Thinker: Media's Self-Defeating Attacks on Sarah Palin

The American left and its tame media desire -- with an intensity that normal individuals would find impossible to understand -- to treat Palin the way a pit bull would treat a rabbit: tear her to pieces and toss her aside broken. But each new encounter ends with the governor stronger, more powerful, and more popular than before. What we're seeing is the latest example of the left's habit of creating its own nightmares […]
The technique never varies. The left, most commonly by way of the media, targets a particular group or politician, evoking a mammoth, sinister, but unclear threat to the public good. The attacks begin with an air of reasonableness and good faith -- the Cronkite/Moyers method -- but soon mount in rabidity to the Olbermann/Schultz level. The goal is not simply to oppose or confront the individuals involved, but to destroy them. Within weeks, the left as a whole is involved not only through traditional media, but also through blogs, comment threads, and sites such as DU and Kos. 
But in many cases, the issues and personalities involved resonate with the public. When this is true, the forces arrayed against the targets cause no serious damage, instead serving only to increase their visibility and popularity. It's as if the energy being expended is working in the victim's favor. Eventually the effort goes hyperbolic, ending in large-scale hysteria and eventual collapse. A wounded left staggers off, whining about how "dumb" and "ill-informed" Americans are […]
The legacy media views politics through exactly that lens: rid the world of Goldwater, of Nixon, and then we will all walk into paradise together. But it never works out that way. After Nixon comes Reagan, and Gingrich, and Palin, and Jindal, and Brewer, and Haley...so it's all fantasy. There are no climactic battles in politics any more than there are climactic battles in getting up and going to work in the morning. 
Politics is not Armageddon. It is an aspect of life, one requiring daily effort. It comprises a guerilla war, won not by mammoth all-or-nothing collisions, but by continual low-key encounters on the level of the commonplace. This is something that a politician would understand, a media figure not at all. 
The media's scorched-earth strategy is innately self-defeating. In attacking Trig Palin, the legacy media insulted every woman raising a disabled child. In making light of Bristol's woes as a single mother, they infuriated every family suffering through the same crisis [...]
On the other hand, much can be learned from a close study of Palin's response to such attacks. After a naïve slip confronting the adorable Katie Couric, Palin has established a record of manipulating the media unmatched since Reagan's heyday. A single tweet from Palin's phone sends tsunamis roaring across the international media sphere. Palin has developed into one of the most media-savvy figures on the current scene.
But that shouldn't be surprising. There's one singular fact that the media, with all its research, all its prying, has failed in root out: she has a journalism degree.

Sarah Palin: Great Article Obama’s TRUE GOAL Tax Oil & Gas Industry Out of Existence

Take a look at this great article on Obama's commission to investigate the Gulf spill. The commission's focus on drilling safety will be cursory -- only to check the box that it took an alleged hard look at the issue. The obvious goal of the environmental activists on the commission will be to draw preconceived conclusions in order to justify regulating/taxing the oil & gas industry out of existence.

The commission appointed by President Obama to investigate the Gulf oil spill (the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling) does not include a single member with specialized knowledge of petroleum engineering. This is akin to performing a heart transplant with a surgical team that has never set foot in an operating room.
Of the seven members appointed to the commission, not one is a petroleum engineer, and all have long-standing ties to the environmental movement. […]
If the president's intention was to prevent future leaks, why would he appoint a commission with no knowledge of drilling? The answer, it would seem, is that this commission was never meant to perform the task it was officially charged with. It was never really intended to be a commission on drilling safety, but rather a group of environmental activists intent on regulating and taxing the oil and gas companies out of business. Its report is unlikely to focus on improved safely measures with the intent of increasing oil and gas exploration and production. It will more likely issue a blueprint on how to restrict drilling while extorting profits from oil companies by way of new fees and regulation.
Even as the commission hears impassioned testimony from Gulf Coast residents about the economic devastation of Obama's ban on deep-water drilling (his second ban, the first having been ruled illegal by a federal court), its members continue to register their opposition to drilling of any sort. […]
There are two crucial lessons to be learned from the Deepwater Horizon accident, but it is doubtful whether the commission will comprehend either of them. The first is that "best practices" exist which, had they been strictly adhered to, may have prevented the Deepwater Horizon accident. It is for the commission to determine whether they were followed in that case, but it is incontrovertible that best practices have prevented significant accidents on all of the other 40,000 wells drilled in the Gulf. These practices, with continual improvement, should prevent spills in the future as well.
The second lesson, and one that no one in government or the mainstream media seems to have considered, is that the Deepwater Horizon, however flawed its management might have been, had the capacity to produce a great deal of oil and gas. […]
For most Americans, new drilling and the energy independence that comes with it seem like a good thing, but that is the very reason why the president has appointed a commission hostile to increased drilling. The success of the free market in the United States depends to a great extent on the availability of cheap energy. By cutting off the supply of oil, natural gas, and coal, Obama ensures a continuation of high unemployment and an extended period of slow growth, and with these, the expansion of the socialist welfare state.
Nothing could be further from the interests of the modern-day Democratic Party than the transformation of the American economy into a flourishing free-market economy powered by cheap and reliable fossil fuels. The fight over drilling, in this sense, is nothing less than a struggle for the future of capitalism in America.

Sarah Palin Outs Darth Vader

From The Great American Thinker:  Darth Vader is out of the closet...and we have Sarah Palin to thank.
The intrepid crusader from the north cut to the heart of Obamacare a year ago, slashing through the professor-speak and government gobbledygook with a searing summary on Facebook of its bottom line: "death panels." With those words, the grounds for debate had shifted, the mainstream media ideological blackout was circumvented, and now, although it may have been Obama's new head of Medicare, Harvard's Dr. Donald Berwick, who stepped on the shuttle at Boston's Logan International Airport, it is Darth Vader who has exited at Reagan National.
Darth Vader -- really? The man responsible for the death of a gazillion inhabited worlds, through whom the evil Emperor Palpatine -- described as " a middle-aged politician ... who gains power through deception and treachery"...sound familiar? -- sought to enslave the universe in the fictional Star Wars saga? Surely, an exaggeration! Yes, and deliberately so, for Berwick starts off his gig as head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid as an enthusiastic proponent of, as one British media commentator noted, a system that routinely denies "some poor suffering victim a remedy that is available in other countries." At the same time, it views the elderly as simply less worthy of care, an expendable segment of the population for whom doctors and heart specialists provide less treatment past the official "cut-off" of 65 years, a British health research journal documented.
Palin's column on death panels ignited a firestorm of elite media and beltway criticism. Once, that would have been enough to shut down debate, for the broadcast networks and newspapers controlled information -- we knew only what they wanted us to know. Suddenly, the new media (including the site you're now reading) provided reality, and the Tea Parties and Republican Party followed. And now Darth Vader has become a metaphor, a figure of speech signifying that the coming of Harvard's Berwick represents the same thing to the average American that the arrival of the Death Star, the spaceship used to destroy planets, meant for entire populations. All of a sudden, life-and-death decisions are out of our hands, resting with a government determined to control every waking moment of our lives. […]
Sarah Palin was right, stubbornly hanging in when the mainstream media -- sensing "a great disturbance in the [leftist] force" -- trained its batteries on her. She was ridiculed on network newscasts, in the White House briefing room, by the media "stormtroopers [who] represented the most visible extension of Imperial [Obama] might." Darth Vader and Star Wars serve as metaphor, Palin as Princess Leia, while network anchors, commentator after commentator, all the president's men showered ridicule on her. "Downright evil," screamed Keith Olbermann; "stupid as s**t," proclaimed a popular Democratic blog.
But she persevered, and the truth emerged. The president and his congressional allies were forcing a crazy quilt of statist bureaucracies, socialist dysfunctions, and authoritarian controls. Each day brought more revelations as Tea Party activists, Republican staffers, ordinary citizens, and new media combed through Obamacare legislation. Sarah Palin was right. Popular radio host Mark Levin put it best: "Sarah Palin's not scary. You know who is? Barack Hussein Obama."  More...........

The American Thinker: Obama's Leading Opponent GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN

In her acceptance speech at the 2008 Republican convention, Governor Sarah Palin urged the public to view news media coverage with a skeptical eye since, as she put it, some journalists simply "make stuff up."
Journalist Peter Beinart, who has migrated of late to the blame-Israel-first crowd, provided further evidence this week of the truth of Gov. Palin's assertion.
Beinart, it will be recalled, most recently stirred controversy with a vapid essay claiming Israeli policies are the cause of large numbers of young American Jews supposedly feeling alienated from the Jewish State.
Now, in his June 7 blog at The Daily Beast Beinart claims: "an Obama official once told me about the Netanyahu team, with amazement, 'these guys are actually waiting for President Palin.' "
According to Beinart, this proves that Prime Minister Netanyahu and his supporters are "out of touch with America."
The first thing to say about the "waiting for President Palin" claim is that it sounds exactly like the kind of thing Gov. Palin warned about two years ago. What better way to make Netanyahu look silly than to claim that he is foolishly expecting the election of someone whom the Obama official, Beinart, and their crowd are confident could never be elected...?
Whether the unnamed Obama official made it up, or whether Beinart made up the Obama official, is irrelevant. One thing, however, is clear: the remark is so absurd that it had to have been made up. The prime minister of Israel and his advisers are not knaves. They understand the mercurial nature of American politics. They would never be so naive as to base their policies on the expected election of a particular candidate, especially when nobody even knows who the candidates will be.
We are now two and a half years before the next U.S. Presidential election. Think about what the political pundits were predicting two and a half years before some of our recent elections. Who predicted, in 1974, that a Georgia peanut farmer would win the next presidential election? Did anybody bet on the governor of Arkansas back in 1990? Who, for that matter, expected, in 2006, that an obscure African-American senator from Illinois would be elected to the White House two years later?

Democrat Brain: The Messiah's A Goner, PLEASE Not Sarah Palin (GOP Will Choose Next Pres)

Great article and is put into perspective why all these crazy ravenous liberals keep coming after Governor Sarah Palin.  It is like putting peanut butter on a rat trap: liberals (or rats) knowing the trap with snap their back & cause death they cannot resist the peanut butter (Sarah Palin): Powerless Against Palin
What could possibly account for this borderline deranged venting of hellfire, this spewing of enough bile to float a battleship, enough gnashing of teeth to pay the college tuition -- all four years -- of the children of a whole battalion of cosmetic dentists?  After all, it's not like Sarah Palin could actually be elected President of the United States or anything.
Or could she?
Of course, she could, or at least the people attacking her think so.  That is not to say that she will be elected or even nominated, but she could and that's clearly one reason why the left is so viciously attacking her and her alone.

Or Sarah Palin.  Whoever the Republicans nominate in 2012 becomes president in 2013.  And that's the key word:  "Republicans."  Whoever the Republicans nominate.
And that's got to be frustrating for your average liberal Democrat:  knowing that absent some surprising favorable development, the Republican Party will choose the next president.  The Democrats role will be limited to simply standing there and letting it happen.
But as the late Billy Mays liked to say, "Wait!  There's more!"  Because if you're a liberal Democrat facing this prospect, you're probably thinking:  "The Messiah's a goner, but if we're to have a Republican president, please, God, please, anyone but Sarah Palin.  Anyone but an attractive, charismatic, principled, conservative, pro-life woman."
Now sometimes appeals to the Almighty work, but not always, or the nation would have been spared the Obama administration, and any appeals and arguments to the voters -- anything the Democrats do after the GOP chooses their candidate -- will be too late.  The Plan A dog (to reelect Obama) won't hunt in 2012, which leaves liberals with Plan B:  dissuade the Republicans from nominating Palin in the first place.  Throw everything, including the kitchen sink, at her.  Blast her with every crack, every criticism, every accusation, no matter how absurd, how hysterical, how rabid and irrational, and hope something sticks.  Sully her good name; taint her so badly in the public's eyes that Republicans won't dare nominate her.
Either that, or turn on the TV at noon, January 20, 2013 to see Barack Obama, out after one soon-to-be-forgotten term, standing on a platform in front of the White House -- and the entire world puts her left hand on the Bible, raises her right, and repeating after Chief Justice Roberts (or reading from her palm) says:
I, Sarah Louise Palin, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States...
Is it any wonder the Dems are going bonkers?

Sarah Palin Is One Tough Mother

Sarah Palin is dismissed by some on both the Left and the Right as a lightweight. She's supposedly wet behind the ears because she's rarely traveled abroad or served as a privileged United States senator, which consists mostly of ordering lackeys around. Of course, Palin is way too pretty (and a non-Ivy-Leaguer besides) to have an I.Q. anywhere near Obama's.
It's astonishing what these critics continually ignore: that Palin is a mom -- not once, but five times over. How can this inconvenient truth be so easily dismissed? Five children -- count them -- including a special-needs boy with Down Syndrome. […]
Looking at Palin's slender frame, it's hard to imagine her actually doing this not once, not twice, but five times. She was wiping spills and her kids' mouths at the same time as she was cleaning up Alaska. Of course, being a frontier woman, Palin can do it all.
Palin can do practically anything because this is how her parents raised her. […]
Obama, in contrast, has spent his 48 years kvetching. A day rarely goes by during which Obama doesn't complain about George Bush or having to lower himself to talk to Republicans.
Every hardship is blamed on outside forces. Obama's parents abandoned him because of racism; he was benched from a high school sport due to injustice; his friends, like Henry Louis Gates, Jr., are treated unfairly.
And because of all this alleged persecution, liberals view Obama as the tough guy. In many people's messed up minds, the angry and aggrieved are viewed as the formidable ones. 
Meanwhile, Palin just glides by like a majestic bird in flight. She's called a c--t, Trailer Trash Barbie, and a moron, but she just keeps going, like the fiercest prizefighter. Palin takes the punches, gets up, and keeps on rocking -- always with her effervescent smile.
There is nothing lightweight about her, our Alaskan Amazon, who once gave a speech in Dallas while in the throes of labor with Trig. Did you hear that? I'm talking labor, which I understand is like having one of those prizefighters throwing punches from deep inside. Are you listening, the insufferable Robert Gibbs?
Fool: Does it really matter if, at the time, she had some notes scribbled on her palm? 
Can you imagine the carryings-on, the mass hysteria, if people like Obama or Gibbs or Maureen Dowd had to actually birth a human being? Would they even survive to tell the tale?  […]
Can anyone in his right mind say the same thing about Obama?

American Thinker: Like Our Founders Sarah Palin Is An Authentic American Phenomenon

I posted a portion of an interesting piece by Jed Gladstein at American Thinker: The Palin Palimpsest

Better to heed the words of Shakespeare, who wrote that "There is a tide in the affairs of men, which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune." For America, that means Sarah Palin and the Republican Party. Here's why and here's how:
  1. The Republican Party is out, and wants in. That means it needs a champion who can generate popular enthusiasm. Sarah Palin is such a champion. Put aside the blithe criticisms of the pundits and naysayers. If an election were held today, Sarah Palin would generate a popular majority greater than the one that swept Ronald Reagan into the White House.
  2. The Republican Party is chastened. Its failure under Bush to pare back the scope of federal interference in people's lives resulted in the Devil's bargain with the Democrats to expand federal involvement in mortgage lending, and that led directly to the collapse of the real estate market and then the stock market. That has taken the Republican Party down a couple of pegs, and it is now far more amenable to the common-sense values that Sarah Palin embodies.
  3. The Republican Party has an existing political infrastructure that can be used to facilitate a national campaign by Sarah Palin, whereas a third party candidacy would need to reinvent the wheel. Time is short, the issues are vital, and the 90% rule applies to the choice of political vehicle.
  4. National campaigns require huge amounts of money. Sarah Palin can raise that money directly from the American people by way of the World Wide Web, in exactly the way Obama is alleged to have done. Millions of Americans will donate $5, $10, $20 or $100 to a political renaissance spearheaded by Sarah Palin. They will be glad to do it because they trust her.
  5. The time to begin the political renaissance is now, not in 2011 or 2012. The reason is that Sarah Palin must spearhead more than a personal political campaign. She must spearhead a political renaissance, and that means taking over the Republican Party. To do that, she will need time and allies and money. She can raise the money, and the allies are ready to hand. But time is remorseless, and assuming power in the Republican Party will be time-consuming, so she must begin that task today.

American Thinker: Sarah Palin's Reagan Qualities

Steve Flesher of The American Thinker wrote a very nice piece on exactly how I and many Sarah Palin supporters view The Governor: Sarah Palin's Reagan Qualities. 
While some progressive types scramble to suddenly defend Reagan conservatism by writing articles titled "Sarah Palin is NOT the new Reagan," the life stories of Reagan and Palin contradict their theories by revealing stark similarities between these two fascinating Americans.

Reagan and Palin were raised with similar values, attended similar schools, had similar competitive interests, and embarked on authentic, gradual segues into public service, with an undeniable connection to conservative Americans. 

Just like Ronald Reagan, Sarah Palin was born in a small town. Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois, while Palin debuted in Sandpoint, Idaho -- both in February. As a youngster, Reagan had a job as a lifeguard and developed an enriched passion for competitive sports -- particularly football -- in high school. Sarah worked with her family, getting up with her father on many early mornings to hunt for the family's meat supply. In high school, she became known as "Barracuda" on the basketball court, and she eventually led her team to the state championship. 

Just like Ronald Reagan, Sarah Palin never attended an Ivy League college. Reagan chose Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois, while Sarah Palin attended local and state-level universities. Both obtained bachelor's degrees and sought work as sportscasters -- Reagan for the University of Iowa, Palin for local Anchorage news station.

Just like Ronald Reagan, Sarah Palin got involved in politics by taking small steps. Reagan began writing speeches (which often espoused political messages supporting pro-business conservatism) while working for General Electric. Sarah Palin got involved with her local PTA and ran for city council of her small town because she was concerned about how her tax dollars were being spent. 

Just as Ronald Reagan did, Palin contains an instantly recognizable honesty factor among the grassroots. Through honesty, both politicians' careers in public service continued to escalate in small but definitive steps.

Two years after his dismissal from General Electric, and in the same year Sarah Palin was born, Ronald Reagan kicked off the start of his enormous grassroots influence on a national level by giving his famed "Barry Goldwater" speech in 1964. Similarly, Sarah Palin remained impressively modest while giving one of the most powerful and effective speeches of all time during the 2008 Republican National Convention. 

Just like Reagan, Sarah Palin was able to demonstrate how one lives and learns through personal moments of grievance and despair. Last year, the mainstream media went wild over Sarah Palin upon learning about her daughter's pregnancy during the same time she was being vetted by the McCain campaign. With Ronald Reagan, liberals in the media took aim at the fact that he was "the only divorced president." 

Just like Reagan, Sarah Palin had been out of the country only a limited amount of times before running for national office. Even during Reagan's service to his country, his nearsightedness kept him from serving overseas. 

Liberals and Republicans alike declared Ronald Reagan unqualified to be president, especially after Gerald Ford beat him for the Republican nomination in 1976. Even after four years of Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford himself remarked as late as March 1979 that Reagan was "unelectable."

With the release of Palin's Going Rogue this month, Nielsen reports Palin selling an astonishing 469,000 copies in the book's first week of release. This trounces Obama's The Audacity of Hope, which sold 67,000 in the same period. On her nationwide book tour, Palin is reaching out to the masses and once again drawing record crowds -- and her grassroots fame gave Oprah her highest ratings in two years.

Just like Reagan, Palin continues to plow through her opposition, remaining successful by holding onto the nationwide support she had from last year while growing an entire base of new admirers from the bottom up. With the left and the elite Republicans scrambling for their best anti-Palin rhetoric while she innocuously sells her book, one wonders what they will come up with if she ever does run for president.

Most importantly, given classic Reagan history, and while some in the media ponder whether Sarah Palin will ever get support from Washington's beltway, all grassroots conservatives seem to be energized by the obvious: She never needed it.
