Anchorage, Alaska - Governor Palin announced her appointments to the Alaska Public Offices Commission, Fishermen’s Fund Advisory and Appeals Council, Governor’s Council on Disabilities and Special Education, Knik Arm Bridge and Toll Authority, and State Officers Compensation Commission.

Alaska Public Offices Commission
Governor Palin appointed Kathleen J. King to the Alaska Public Offices Commission. The five-member commission administers laws upholding the public’s right to know the financial affairs of state and municipal public officials and candidates, and of lobbyists and their employers. It adopts regulations, issues advisory opinions, recommends changes in state law, administers penalties for failure to comply with reporting requirements and adjudicates complaints, and can recommend removal of candidates from the ballot or office.

Fishermen’s Fund Advisory and Appeals Council
Governor Palin reappointed Larry Bartman to the Fishermen’s Fund Advisory and Appeals Council. The six-member council consults with the commissioner of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development regarding appeals filed concerning the care of Alaska licensed commercial fishermen who have been injured while fishing in Alaska. The council also oversees the administration of the Fishermen’s Fund, which uses a portion of commercial fishing licenses and permit fees to fund medical care and benefits for injured commercial fishermen.

Governor’s Council on Disabilities and Special Education
Governor Palin reappointed Marlene “Anna” Attla, Milton “Smitty” Cheemuk, Kathleen L. Fitzgerald and Lelia “Lucy” Odden to the Governor’s Council on Disabilities and Special Education. The council is the interdepartmental planning and coordinating agency of the state Department of Health and Social Services and other departments offering services or special education to disabled Alaskans. It also operates as the state disability/special education planning council under federal law, and works with the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority on the state’s integrated program for the mentally disabled. At least 60 percent of the members must be people with disabilities, or parents of people with disabilities.

Knik Arm Bridge and Toll Authority
Governor Palin appointed Janet A. Kincaid to the Knik Arm Bridge and Toll Authority. The authority, led by a five-member board of directors, was created by the Alaska State Legislature in 2003 to facilitate construction of a bridge across Knik Arm connecting the Municipality of Anchorage and the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.

State Officers Compensation Commission
Governor Palin reappointed Mike Miller to the State Officers Compensation Commission. The five-member commission created by the Alaska State Legislature in 2008 is charged with making adjustments in the pay, benefits and allowances of top state officials, including legislators, commissioners, the governor and the lieutenant governor.

In the past 2 weeks we have seen Governor Palin sign into law more than 17 bills, reduce Alaska’s budget/spending by 30% and honor Alaska’s private businesses with her North Star Awards for International Excellence and, of course, show her love & appreciation for our soldiers. The Governor also cancelled a trip to the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, D.C. As usual The Governor put Alaskans 1st and stayed home to meet village leaders & survey the damage from the worst flooding in Alaska’s history. She then responded like a compassionate leader and declared a federal disaster expediting aid and assistance.

It has been a busy couple of weeks: we also saw The Governor’s “Fuel Tax Holiday” is rolling along helping Alaskan consumers (Democrats voted to end it this year), her push to increase Alaska’s fuel output is advancing, raise over $120,000 for the “March of Dimes,” meet with military leaders over missile defense and call out Øbama on his cowardly & flaccid stance on North Korea. What we are seeing is the Governor at her best. She leads by example and is always doing what is in the best interest of those she governors.

Alaska is 1 of 5 states in the black (financially sound) and Alaskans can thank The Governor’s smart polices. She was handed a state with massive wasteful spending & very unfare deals with the oil companies. The Governor first re-negotiated with the oil companies (less tax revenue for the feds & more for Alaska), created a rainy-day fund and today that amounts to a $6 billion surplus. In other states with a massive tax base, like California, Florida and NYC things are quite different. With liberals like Governor Schwarzenegger, Governor Crist & Mayor Bloomberg all spending like drunken sailors their prospectives states & cities are near collapse. Sadly and embarrassingly they need to suck up to the slow witted Øbama to save their butts.

What we are witnessing are the reasons Governor Palin earned a 85% + approval rating before the “Media” went on the attack to protect there golden child Øbama. As Øbama & Biden continue to destroy everything that makes America strong & great and other GOP contenders continue to underestimate Governor Palin her appeal grows stronger. Huckabee, Romney & the Democrats need to wake-up and realize Governor Palin is the future of The Grand Old Party & America.

Fairbanks, Alaska – On Memorial Day Governor Palin today read a proclamation to honor military members at Veterans Memorial Park in Fairbanks. “On this Memorial Day, we remember, honor, and give thanks to those who died in service to this nation,” Governor Palin said. “Today, we honor all of the brave men and women of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the freedoms we hold so dear.”

Governor Palin also signed 9 pieces of legislation while in Fairbanks:
Senate Bill 45, which establishes an Alaska veterans’ cemetery near Fairbanks. SB 45, sponsored by Senators Gene Therriault and Charlie Huggins, directs the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs to pursue the creation of a U.S. Department of Military and Veterans Affairs-approved cemetery where veterans can receive their full burial rights.
House Joint Resolution 10, HJR10 is a resolution urging the US Congress to improve health care for veterans.
Senate Bill 142, sponsored by Senator Joe Paskvan, transfers five acres of land from the Alaska Railroad to the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities. This will allow the state to reconstruct Illinois Street, which provides primary access to downtown Fairbanks.
Senate Bill 114, sponsored by Senator Paskvan, extends the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors until June 30, 2017.
Senate Bill 133, sponsored by Senator Paskvan, modernizes Alaska’s health care IT infrastructure by developing a secure electronic Health Information Exchange system to improve the safety, cost-effectiveness, and quality of health care in Alaska.
Senate Bill 48, sponsored by Senator Therriault, exempts municipal service area boards from the requirements of conducting meetings open to the public when a meeting is administrative or managerial in nature.
House Bill 121, sponsored by Representative John Coghill, requires the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities to retrofit, where cost-effective, all public facilities within 15 years of the completion of an energy use index database.
Senate Bill 170, sponsored by Senator Johnny Ellis, modifies the Alaska unemployment insurance statutes by redefining the base period for determining eligibility for unemployment benefits, relating to contributions, interest, penalties, and payments under the Alaska Employment Security Act.
House Bill 177, sponsored by Representative Coghill, implements consumer protection for ATVs, snowmobiles, boat motors, and other recreational vehicles. HB 177 requires a manufacturer to replace a defective product or refund the price of the product if the product is unusable by the purchaser for more than 30 days in the first year of the purchase.

Governor Palin: "More N Korea nuke tests: why consider US missile program cuts now? Alaska military program helps secure US. Now is NOT time to cut our defense." Once again we have North Korea detonate a nuclear bomb and Governor Palin stands strong. Øbama & his crony's respond with empty words and his ignorant & naive polices put America in further danger.

Earlier this month Øbama proposed budget cuts for Fiscal Year 2010. Millions in cuts from missile defense funding and reduced spending for the Alaska's Denali Commission and the Village Safe Water program. “These budget cuts add up to about half of 1 percent,” Governor Palin said. “But while they do little to put brakes on the exploding federal deficit, they hit Alaska hard. I join our congressional delegation in their determination to see that Alaska’s unique challenges and its key role in national defense are not overlooked.” The Øbama budget would cancel a 2nd missile defense field at Fort Greely and freeze the number of interceptors being deployed there. “This is an outrageous move at a time when North Korea has shown its willingness to flout international sentiments and conduct missile tests,” Governor Palin said. “America needs a strong missile defense, and Alaska’s strategic location is invaluable in protecting the nation.”

What we have is another laughable United Nations resolution and Øbama the "Globalist" equally inept. North Korea realizes Øbama is a pushover, similar to Bill Clinton, and with this nuclear test they expect and will get billions in aid.
