Here is another example of Governor Palin walking the walking and talking the talking. During the 08 campaign the McCain/Palin ticket proposed a gasoline tax holiday and what do you know Governor Palin & Alaskans consumers have been enjoying savings at the pump.

The "Fuel Tax Holiday" was part of Governor Palin's 2008 energy relief plan. It included a $1,200 resource rebate added onto permanent fund checks. During the 2009 legislative session Democrats failed to extend the one-year fuel tax holiday for two more years.

Once the fuel sales tax holiday ends, every 8¢ Alaskans pour into their gas tanks will go back to the state. It is part of a $40 million revenue. There is also 5¢ for watercraft fuel. 4.7¢ for aviation gasoline, and 3.2¢ for other aviation fuel. At the pump another motorist said, "I don't think its right. I think we should keep the sales tax now, the holiday, until we're at least average with stateside." This budget year $40 million general fund dollars paid for Alaskans fuel tax holiday. September 1 that ends. Replaced by higher gas prices to pick up some road repair costs.

Juneau, Alaska - Governor Palin and Lt. Gen. (AK) Craig E. Campbell, Adjutant General of the Alaska National Guard, met Monday with General Carroll H. “Howie” Chandler, Commander of the U.S. Air Force (USAF) in the Pacific. General Chandler briefed Governor Palin on current events in the USAF, the status of USAF assets in Alaska, possible deployment levels in 2009 for Iraq and Afghanistan, and the value of training in Alaska.
“It was truly an honor to meet with General Chandler,” Governor Palin said. “His distinguished 35-year military career and previous years as commander of the Alaska Command give him the experience necessary to truly understand the strategic value of military assets in Alaska - particularly the benefit of Alaska airspace and facilities for readiness training exercises. I look forward to working with General Chandler in the future.”
“General Chandler is a good friend and an Alaskan at heart,” Lt. Gen. (AK) Campbell said. “Since his days as commander of the Alaska Command, Gen. Chandler has always looked out for the best interests of the military in our state and he is a tremendous ally for Alaska issues in Washington, D.C.” Alaska is home to both Eielson and Elmendorf Air Force Bases, at least 10 different types of aircraft, about 9,000 airmen and about 12,000 family members. Aviation training occurs year-round with “Red Flag” exercises involving international aircrews conducted every three to four months.

Governor Palin of Alaska, a strong pro-life advocate, weighed in on the issue:

“My favorite grandpa, Clem James Sheeran, was Catholic. Irish to the core, his favorite place (other than church) was Notre Dame. I can’t imagine what he would think as the university recognizes someone who contradicts the core values of the Catholic faith by promoting an anti-life agenda. As we learned today, our nation is more pro-life than ever before; it is a very important time to strengthen the message that every baby is created for good purpose and has the potential to make this world a better place.”

While The Governor understands this battle is about a fundamental value, Øbama supporters trivialize it by suggesting it is about opening a dialogue with people of opposing views. Despite their belittling, this outrage is well deserved. By bestowing the degree on President Pro-Choice, a message is conveyed that he is a role model, someone deserving of recognition in the eyes of the university. Despite the shame brought on by ND Jenkins even said he is an inspiring leader.

Many see the damage done by Notre Dame as unforgivable. Other highly respected Catholic universities such as The Catholic University of America and Georgetown University have lead by example. CUA & GU apparently understand the core values of the Catholic faith and will lead Catholics & all Christians into the furture.

By Governor Palin - Ensuring that Alaskans have affordable energy for decades to come is one of the most important jobs on my desk right now. To succeed, the state needs to look at every possible option and make sure Alaskans have all the information to make the right decisions.

That's why I asked the Legislature to fund a thorough review of an in-state pipeline to move natural gas from the North Slope to Fairbanks, through the Railbelt and Southcentral regions, serving as many communities in the state as economically feasible.

Our efforts complement progress TC Alaska is making on a line to the Lower 48, using its state license under the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act......also in Valdez to ship Alaska gas to ports all along the world's Pacific Rim like California, Japan, South Korea.

We are reviewing all options to ensure Alaskans know all the facts about progress to flow gas to our homes and businesses. An in-state gas line to serve as many communities as possible is one of the options and would not interfere with plans for the larger interstate pipeline (to lower 48) . Geologists say there is enough gas throughout the North Slope for both pipes. There is enough investor interest for both pipes. And there may be enough consumer demand for both pipes.

My team is working with experts and interested parties to prepare cost estimates and to figure out what is needed -- from gas supply contracts at one end of the pipe to gas purchase contracts at the other end. Unless reasonably priced gas goes into the line, no one will be able to afford what comes out.

We are blessed to have many possibilities for solving our energy challenges. Possibilities include explorers finding and developing new gas supplies in Cook Inlet. Perhaps a spur line off the big line will be built in short order. Experience shows us that the prudent thing to do is consider all options to maximize benefits for Alaskans, and that is what we're doing in readying a plan to ensure our residents have the gas we need
